Thursday challenge is a little different today! I’ve noticed a fair amount of threads popping up about staying motivated. It’s hard to keep grinding through this process and I completely understand and appreciate the need for motivation and support. One of the biggest ways to stay focused and working hard, IMHO, is to remind yourself of why you are doing this in the first place!

I challenge everyone today to post why you are taking these exams and what your license will mean to you once you have it! It will remind you of what you are working so hard for and it’s also very motivating to read other’s responses. I’ll go first!

I’m taking the CPA exam so I can make partner at my firm. I want to provide a comfortable life for my family and I would take a tremendous amount of pride in having an equity slice of a firm at the ripe old age of 30. That’s why I won’t stop until I see those 3 beautiful letters after my name!!!!!

I am doing this because becoming a cpa has always been my dream. (Back in the days of the Big 8, Arthur Anderson to be specific). I started at 18 years old pursuing a degree in accounting, and like so many like happened so I had to put it on hold. While on hold I started my own bookkeeping and tax business, it is now 17 years old. While running my business I finished my BS and MS in Accounting. I want to become a legitimate accountant, so cpa it is……When people ask me am I a CPA, the letters will answer the question.

Obvious reasons aside, I'd like to finally be free from studying and concentrate on more (?) important things in life like finding a new husband and having a family! (:

I think my drive for wanting to become a CPA strives from a terrific mentor that I have. He is a MSA, CPA, CMA, CFE, CIA, and a CDFM. I couldn't help but strive to reach that level of greatness in my field. So far I have MBA and CDFM. I can't wait to become a CPA. I also think that it is a terrific example that I am setting for my daughter as we'll to always reach for your dreams and to never give up.

Hopeful this time around.... Back after a 2 year break!!
