Thursday challenge is a little different today! I’ve noticed a fair amount of threads popping up about staying motivated. It’s hard to keep grinding through this process and I completely understand and appreciate the need for motivation and support. One of the biggest ways to stay focused and working hard, IMHO, is to remind yourself of why you are doing this in the first place!

I challenge everyone today to post why you are taking these exams and what your license will mean to you once you have it! It will remind you of what you are working so hard for and it’s also very motivating to read other’s responses. I’ll go first!

I’m taking the CPA exam so I can make partner at my firm. I want to provide a comfortable life for my family and I would take a tremendous amount of pride in having an equity slice of a firm at the ripe old age of 30. That’s why I won’t stop until I see those 3 beautiful letters after my name!!!!!

Are you in???? Then tell me why!!!!!! 🙂

    GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    REG: 75 DONE 🙂
    AUD: 61, 71, 68, 92 DONE 🙂
    BEC: 76 DONE 🙂
    FAR: 72, 74, 79 DONE 🙂
    Licensed Michigan CPA 🙂
-Some people dream of success...others wake up and work hard for it!!!
-The cowards never start and the weak die along the way!
    -You better work, b***h!
-Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.-JFK

I am doing this to give myself the challenge and to prove that I can do it. I am doing this so that I can provide for my children and show them that it takes hard work to have great things in life because no one is going to give it to you.

I am doing this for the career opportunities. I've always wanted to be an auditor and right now, the only way I can do that is by passing the exams for where I live. I also want to prove to myself and all those that thought I couldn't do it, because of past failures, that I can do it.

Main reason is so that I can be equally considered by a Hiring manager for job opportunities. All my credentials are foreign so I would like to have the CPA as I am then an equal competitor with others that are applying for the same job.

Second reason I am doing this so that I never ever have to sit an exam ever again LOL. I have already two initials behind my name. This will be my third one.

Third reason – I want to finally know what it is like to have a social life.

I'm doing it mostly to prove to myself I can!

    A - 75
    B - 78 God is good.
    F - 77 Answered prayers.
    R - 84! Done!!

Paperwork sent - waiting for license!!
Still on a cloud and in shock. Through God, all things will happen.

i think it will open up more opportunities in my career

and when i finally get the license it will mean that i never have to study for or take this test ever again – that's enough!

also i am extra-motivated to get it done in 2013 before my first child is born!

btw, just noticed your icon, Mints …. love that stuff. i first had it in Brussels 2 summers ago

    FAR - 1/26/2012 - PASSED (78, but Lost credit), re-do 11/27/2013 - PASSED (87)!
    AUD - EPIC FAIL, 71, 69; 68; 5/25/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    REG - 10/1/2012 - 72; 7/1/2013 - 73 UGH, 10/1/2013 - PASSED (85)!
    BEC - 2/28/2013 - PASSED (82)!
    Licensed CPA!

Used Becker self-study materials (just this for FAR original & REG #1), WileyTestBank, NINJA notes/audio, and Roger cram course for AUD #5, REG #3 & FAR reboot. CPA!

I finally decided to do it because I was tired of thinking it was something that was too hard for me to achieve. I used to think getting my Accounting degree would be enough. Until I got my degree and I kept getting a nagging feeling that I needed to take that one last, huge step and go for the CPA. I quit doubting myself and stopped watching others go after it while i stayed complacent. It will be a giant personal accomplishment, but also professionally as well. I know having my CPA license will give me and my family so many more opportunities and security. I pray God will bring me through what sometimes seems impossible. That's His specialty!! Thanking Him in advance…. 😉

    BEC - 67 | 69 | 2014?
    AUD - 11/27/13 - FAIL
    REG - 2014
    FAR - 2014

i'm doing this to open more doors in my career. while i think i can handle being a manager, director, controller, it's hard to be considered without a CPA. i don't want to answer the question, “why didn't you get your CPA” any longer.
