Participanttraining for a marathon takes a lot of time out of your day and I just don't have that time available while studying…I am going to shoot for training for a half marathon as soon as I am all done but for now I just stick to workouts that are an hour or less.

Participantexercise has actually kept me in check for studying. i refrain from going out, partying, drinking cause i know i have to wake up at 5am to go running, can't run with hangover. my daily routine:
run 3 miles
study 1-2 hrs before work
work
eat dinner and take 1 hr nap after work to recharge the batteries
study 2-3 hrs
watch tv 1 hr
sleep
i injured my knee a few weeks ago and have been slacking in exercise and studying big time!! its like i have no reason to wake up early, which gives me a reason to have more than a few drinks the night before.
my knee is all healed up now so time to get back on track!!!!

MemberI need frequent breaks between lecture sections and question sets, so between I do push-ups, crunches, body weight squats, anything I can do to get moving for a few minutes and then sit right back down. I keep a large Nalgene bottle on the desk with me and sip on that whenever I'm tempted to go downstairs and get some snacks.
I was working out 5-6 days/week before resuming my studies. Now I'm down to 3 at the most. I am offsetting my lack of exercise with a super clean diet though – hardly any processed foods.
I have found that avoiding excess sugar/salt/etc in my food helps me stay awake/alert a lot more easily.

ParticipantUgh!
just venting …went to the dentist 2day. Sat in the chair for 2 1/2 hours, felt yukky all day long. All the healthy talk is motivating, hoping to get back on the exercise train tomorrow!

ParticipantI put on 9 lbs while studying for the first 2 sections and I'd rather not gain another 9 (or more!). I joined a gym that offers plenty of free classes and hope that'll motivate my to get my butt in gear. I somehow survived a boot camp-type class yesterday and can barely walk up stairs today… Tomorrow won't be better but at least I know the pain will pass and my jeans will one day fit the way they should!
This thread is great! Good luck to everyone with the exams and the pounds!

MemberJust to put a positive spin on this process, did anyone get so stressed out during all of this (studying, test taking, exam score waiting, etc.) that they actually ate a lot less the whole time? Don't know if it was nerves or what, but I ended up losing some beer weight thanks to this whole thing, and that's after I stopped going to the gym. Silver lining perhaps?
