I’ve ventured into the Health issues section, but this particular thread is supposed to help AVOID said issues.

Let’s share what we are doing to try and maintain our health while studying. What are you guys doing for workouts? Workout DVDs? Buying home equipment? Gym lifting? Cardio only? Any particular workout programs you are using or are you freestyling it? What time of day do you workout?

Are you guys trying to keep your eating habits under control? What are some good healthy study snacks you like?

While it may be difficult for these exams to not affect your health at all, it is important to minimize negative affects. Let’s support each other and share our tips/techniques!

@ Mints– we are doing the same thing! Except we got a stationary bike ( I live in a 95 year old rowhome… our basement ceiling is unfortunately too low for a treadmill). We also picked up some new mats, dumbbells, and a kettle bell to create a mini gym in our basement. My husband is a college basketball referee, so he keeps in good shape, but I've realized I'm getting winded when I walk up stairs… Thanks CPA exam!

This exam ALMOST defeated me back in 2006-2008, but I came back and WON!

    REVIVAL

I'm not studying anymore (:D) – but I have recently revived my fitness routine. I really have no excuse! I have a fairly high risk for breast cancer – so my doctor recommended 4-5 times a week for 45 minutes, which I wasn't keeping up with.

So, I've been hitting the gym much more and I recently hiked 9 miles yesterday. My legs are killing me today!

    How is everyone else doing?

I recently started going to a personal trainer twice a week. The gym is walking distance from my office. My week NEEDS this sort of forced structure. I find that I filling my week with planned activities bleeds over into motivating myself to study at regular times every week.

Also, it all sort of feels like the same goal: CPA exams passes + better bod = more confidence going into job interviews.

I'm not studying anymore either but I have been going to the gym every day at lunch. I can’t go to the gym this week because I have meetings all week during or around lunch so I’m attempting to get up a little early some days and do 20 min workouts at home. My diet has been pretty bad so I didn’t lose any weight. I started a smoothie cleanse on Monday, more so for detoxifying and getting more energy than to lose weight. It's been going great so far I'll try to remember to check back in at the end of the week so you can see how I’m doing. I

Trying to study and keep up with exercise was HARD! I am so glad I am done so I can spend more time on me!

I use weekends to grocery shop and loosely plan what I'm going to eat throughout the week. If I have a plan, I'm less likely to stray from healthy habits. I also make sure to schedule workouts on my calendar like appointments so I am “required” to “attend” the workout!

@dancingqueen – You are doing exactly what I'm striving for! I found when I meal-planned on Sunday for the week, and then went grocery shopping, not only were my meals healthier, but I was much less stressed throughout the week because I knew what I was going to make. And I also schedule my workouts!

I started talking to a health coach through my insurance plan, mainly because we are rewarded with a Visa gift card, but I found that chatting with her once a month made me feel proud or guilty depending on how I was doing with my eating and exercising.

I joined a gym about a month or two ago and I'm actually having a lot of fun going and experimenting with my workout. Hopefully I keep it up!

I love this thread!!! I just decided today that my main goal throughout this process is to maintain my weight. Once I'm done, I'll start working on losing weight. I have about 15-20 pounds to lose. I work full time, am married and have two young children, so something had to give. It had to be my obsession about losing weight. 🙂 Glad to see I'm not the only one trying to make it through studying without busting out of my clothes!!!

I read the username DancingQueen and initially misread as Dairy Queen. Clearly this is not the thread for me.

@neika, that health coach seems cool – I wonder if I have it with my insurance plan?? I should look into it!

I am running a half trail marathon on Saturday in Chattanooga, TN. The husband, dogs and I are making a weekend trip out of it. In the past 11.5 weeks I've ran 215.5 miles! So…… I'm ready…… I think!

I feel like I'm been spamming the heck out of this to my friends, but I bought this DVD about 2 months ago and throw in a 30-minute session 3-4 times a week (in with my running schedule) IT'S SO HARD. Being my first “workout DVD” ever purchased, I was like, how hard is this stuff really? Anyway, it's been a big help getting me “lean” & “toned”

@nbad I love Jillian Michaels! Her workouts are tough but doable. Good luck with your marathon. I have never really been into running (i really hate it) but i love to workout in other ways. I hope you do well and finish, come back and let us know how you did.

@Mel how are you my friend??? How does it feel to be finished!???

On the notes section of my iPhone I have a note that says “life after the CPA” and included on that is to run a 5K, 10k, half, and full marathon! Hopefully I'll be able to start training soon!

As my exam is approaching, I don't feel the motivation to workout or eat healthy. I fell off the wagon this week with my diet but I haven't stopped going to the gym. I should be scare since i signed up for Rugged Maniac that's a week after my exam :O yikes!!
