I’ve ventured into the Health issues section, but this particular thread is supposed to help AVOID said issues.

Let’s share what we are doing to try and maintain our health while studying. What are you guys doing for workouts? Workout DVDs? Buying home equipment? Gym lifting? Cardio only? Any particular workout programs you are using or are you freestyling it? What time of day do you workout?

Are you guys trying to keep your eating habits under control? What are some good healthy study snacks you like?

While it may be difficult for these exams to not affect your health at all, it is important to minimize negative affects. Let’s support each other and share our tips/techniques!

Jeff – you are not wrapped tight! πŸ™‚

I wish I had found this thread sooner. I've been trying to gain weight. Getting sick definitely caused me to drop quite a few pounds, that I didn't need to lose, so now, I'm lifting weights trying to gain some muscle. The plan is to get fit, not fat! Any suggestions?

Although I only started my CPA journey 4 months ago, I did notice going to the gym took way to much time out of the day for me personally, which really was depressing because I love to workout. Anyways, I've been doing T25 which is made by the creator of insanity and it is much easier on your joints, mainly knees and ankles, than insanity (I know because I've done both insanity and insanity asylum). I would recommend these workout DVDs to everyone who is looking to workout already on a compressed schedule as they are all only 25mins long and an optional 2-3 mins of stretching afterwards which is obviously beneficial if you choose. You really do see results and it is a great workout! Just my two cents to help contribute.

Do you guys have tha app Scoutmob and live in an area/city that uses it? It's an app that finds 50% off restaurants in the area…… this app often leads to my husband and I over-eating by eating out at different places too often (instead of cooking at home!)

Last night: 8 lbs of Italian food

After taking a workout hiatus for the past 2 months, I decided to get back on the wagon last week and am slightly miserable. I've been alternating between Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and a Pilates/Ballet fusion series called Ballet Beautiful. I'm hoping that this week it will be more tolerable because it scares my dog when I scream profanity at Jillian when she barks “if 300 pound people can do jumping jacks, so can you!”.

I've put on approx. 15 pounds of pure lard and need to get back down to my normal size ASAP…preferably by Thanksgiving. My sister-in-law is a bitch and won't hesitate to point out that I've gained weight since the last time I saw her in front of the party of 25. Ugh.

I have a fitbit and just love it! It tracks my steps, food, sleep, etc. and the graphs and charts are great. I also added the fitbit scale so all of my data is in one spot.

I wanted to try Insanity but I'm too scared, ha!!!! πŸ™‚

lol @ you sister-in-law…my husband's whole family wouldn't hesitate to do the same thing…it think it's a cultural difference thing (they're caribbean) but at least I won't be seeing them until some time in 2014…

Not sure if losing the entire 15lbs by Thanksgiving is a realistic goal…more like 10lbs…but hey IT'S WORTH A SHOT! Just try not to leap across the Thanksgiving table to choke her if she says something lol

I've been eating crap the past few days. My mom is in town, and she likes to go out to eat to all the restaurants she doesn't have in her area (PF Changs, Cheesecake Factory, Joe's American Bar & Grille). So that's all going to my thighs.

And I haven't worked out since last Monday. She's leaving tomorrow (:(), but I'll get back at it then!

Man, I loved reading through this thread! I had my second baby in May, started working back towards fitness through diet and getting back to running and lifting… and then it all went to hell. Back to work in August, studying all the time, two kids, staying fit… I'm glad others are successful! You're good motivation.

I had to stop doing any kind of calorie counting/restriction because my milk supply dropped like CRAZY while I was doing that and then skyrocketed when I went back to eating whatever I wanted (within reason… *ahem*), but others finding time to work out while also studying and having a life makes me hopeful I can be better this goaround. I was AWFUL during FAR. :-/

Good to see this thread back at the top. @fiona – sounds like you are doing the right thing by listening to your body. Do what you can and then jump back on when you can.

The hubby and I live pretty rural without much entertainment choices so we bought an xbox one (sold the 360). It has a cool fitness section on it that can be used with the motion sensor. It's pretty cool and I've used it quite a bit so far. It's helped with the motivation factor.

Now that I'm done with the exams (as of Saturday's score release), I am SO looking forward to getting my body/health back on track.

I know I started this thread, but I did not quite keep up the healthy habits while finishing up…life just got in the way. But I'm determined to “make room in my day for the things that are most imporant to me” and my health IS really important.

I started hitting the gym again after I sat for my last exam while I was waiting for my score…just praying I wouldn't have to retake the exam and risk losing the energy/will to workout on a regular basis.

I am resurrecting this thread because I cannot contain my excitement…we pulled the trigger on a treadmill this morning!!!!! A shiny new NordicTrack C700 will be delivered to our household within the next 7-10 days, which is perfect timing with my exam on the 6th. Considering I won't know my score until 2/3, its almost a month of study freedom to focus on fitness instead! I can't wait to start using it; Mr. Mints & I are getting hefty from studying and holiday eating!
