I’ve ventured into the Health issues section, but this particular thread is supposed to help AVOID said issues.

Let’s share what we are doing to try and maintain our health while studying. What are you guys doing for workouts? Workout DVDs? Buying home equipment? Gym lifting? Cardio only? Any particular workout programs you are using or are you freestyling it? What time of day do you workout?

Are you guys trying to keep your eating habits under control? What are some good healthy study snacks you like?

While it may be difficult for these exams to not affect your health at all, it is important to minimize negative affects. Let’s support each other and share our tips/techniques!

Signed up for Disney's Wine and Dine Half Marathon in Orlando November 9th. 16-week training program officially started last week, 3 runs a week ( 3 miles Tuesday and Thursdays and increasingly long runs on the weekends!).

    Good luck, @Yama!

Today was supposed to be my workout morning, but my foot has been bothering me, so I decided to take it easy for a few days. I was supposed to get up early to study instead, but I didn't. I told my boyfriend specifically to kick the cat out so I could sleep without waking up, which DID happen. However, he works in Loss Prevention at a nearby retail store and the alarm went off at 3am. So him getting the call woke me up at 3, then he didn't get back until 4:30am, which I also woke up to. I couldn't imagine getting up in a half-hour, so I changed my alarm. Ooops!

I did get a few hours of studying in last night though, around two. I stopped studying around 9:30 and then just read a magazine hoping it'd make me tired. It worked!

A bit OT: My dad remarried ~a year ago and his FIFTH child was born yesterday (he's 63). So that kinda was bothering me yesterday… I couldn't focus too much on studying.

I took FAR yesterday (see my post in the FAR Exam Experience thread if you're interested)

I didn't exercise ONE day last week and I won't at all this week because I'm travelling to Los Angeles for job interviews and hanging out with family!! I'm excited!!! I'm going to try not to eat TOO crazy…

but among the list of things I always eat when I'm in the area include:

    – chili cheese fries from Tom's

    – In N Out

    – some random mexican food joint

I think I'm going to skip In N Out this trip…but I'm DEF going for the chili cheese fries πŸ™‚

Your experience sounds like it went well CPAforbirthday! It must feel nice to have the burden of studying off your shoulders for now.

Fit is going well. I've still been doing my 30DS everymorning (or evening if I can't drag my butt out of bed/have to travel in the morning). Plus, I'm getting back into running shape. I feel much better than I did a few weeks ago.

Study however is going snails pace. I'm getting it done here and there but it is just dragggginng since I've been through the material 4 times now and feel like I know it, but not well enough. I've been keeping a notebook of all the concepts I never had down before that I need to remember and JE's.

Tonight I will do a little run, maybe some 30DS (but won't be mad at myself if I don't get it in).

I'm working about an hour away and I will finish writing out Govt JE's on my ride home, do another 20 rounds of MCQ on it at home, and hopefully get started on Chapter 2 recognition and smaller concepts (my weakness everytime!)

Maybe CPA4Birthday can provide me with some insight on studying (and hopefully passing!) for the fourth time around???

    Cool thread,

I'm still in school for the summer so my experiences are a little different than you all's but I usually like to get a lift in early in the morning before class at about 6:00. I do a 4 day split with HIGH intensity so it only takes 50 min which I've been working on getting down even lower. I'm thinking that I won't have much time when I start working to lift/workout so I better get used to it. This morning was the off day but tomorrow morning I have everyones favorite day…. Leg day

Today was a off day and so far I've put in 3 hours of studying and am about to get a few more in. I'm studying for my first CPA exam which is FAR and I'm beginning to think that might have been a bit of a misstep! Oh well gotta do it!

@ Neika…. I am sorry honey. That would irk me too……. I don't have the greatest dad myself….. But I tell myself that we cannot control what happens outside of us, sometimes we cannot control what happens to us……

Ultimately, all we can control is ourselves and how we allow things to affect us………. You are always in control………

I've been running a lot, some cross training, but not nearly enough weights and such. Decided earlier this year I wasn't going into my thirties weighing in over 220 lbs. So far I'm down just over 50 lbs, with another 15-20 to go.

Signed up for the Tinkerbell 1/2 Marathon last week. The training program starts in September, but I may try for a 10k or a different 1/2 marathon this fall first. I pretty much already do the training program, two shorts runs during the week, and a longer run on the weekend. I think my furthest is about 6.5 miles. Since I'm in Phoenix, it's roasting hot 24 hours a day right now, so I'm up at 4:30 to run, squeeze in some study time while I cool off, then start my day off to get to work!

Of course, it doesn't help that to “celebrate” taking AUD today, I stopped for a glass of wine and tiramisu on my way home from the testing center….

Update: I had a Five Guys Double Bacon Cheeseburger, but added lettuce, so it was similar to eating a salad.

    Love Five Guys.

Haven't been working out too much. I will this weekend, maybe tonight… I've been just studying each morning instead. My exam is in a couple of weeks (UGH) and I'm behind. I have a 4-day weekend this weekend, so hopefully I'll find some sort of motivation to hit the books.

It was really hard for me to not run outside this morning. It looked so nice! But with my foot still hurting (damn foot), I figured I might as well just study since I need to do that anyway!

Anyone think I can do 7 chapters of MCQ's this weekend?? lol That would be great… And I'd be all caught up!

I failed at studying and working out yesterday. I even left work early because I did not feel well and ended up sleeping for hours and hours and hours when I got home. I suppose I needed it! Better to take one day off then have a lot of not so great/sluggish days.

I did walk my dogs this morning…nice long walk with an incredible sunrise!

This weekend will be a power weekend for sure!

With my exam date around the corner, I have been in full tilt crazy study mode and decided that I would need to cut out “fit time” to make room for more study time until 8/8/13. Interestingly enough, I have noticed lately that my body feels like crap and it must be due to ditching my workout routine. My back is tight and my joints feel compressed…I feel like a 90 year old lady and that is not acceptable! My husband has also mentioned that I have been very cranky since we got home from vacation…which is around when I decided to put a 3 week blackout on fit time! I always thought it was BS when people say that daily exercise improves your mental state as much as your physical well being…looks like I was 100% wrong on that one!!!!

I never considered that cutting out fit time would make me actually feel worse, so when I get home from work tonight I have an appointment with my psycho workout pal, Jillian Michaels! πŸ˜‰

Keep it up the good work everyone!!!!!!!!!!

I have had a fairly productive (except anything CPA-related) day! I have today off, so I got up at 7 and made a blueberry muffin loaf. Went for a (very labored) run and hit the gym. Got a haircut and hit the local farmer's market. Got home around noon. I did a lot! Nap time? lol

I'd like to make a habit of going to the farmer's market just to get better produce. I grew up in central Mass, so I'm used to fresh corn on the cob and I miss it!! Picked some up πŸ™‚

I took it easy this week on exercising. My foot is still really bothering me… but I want to keep running! It's supposed to hit 100 today, so I'm glad I got that out of the way.

Then studying for the rest of the day. Sad…

I hope everyone has been doing well! I have not. On both fronts. I worked out once last week. I rescheduled FAR since I can't keep my butt motivated. UGH.

I'm going to try to get back on track this week.

@neika I am failing on the study front too. I can not really push back my test date so I apparently I need to kick myself in the butt and study!

I have been excelling on the workout front. I did a 5k Saturday and beat my last 5k time by 43 seconds!!! I am super super happy about that!

Seriously though I need to study more. I am doing another 5k this Saturday and then no more until after test day!

    That's great, @smp!!

I'm finding it difficult to juggle both working out and studying now. And living while doing both is quite difficult, haha. I know I can do it, I've just lost my motivation. Moving back my exam has definitely lifted some weight off my shoulders, but its no excuse to keep dragging. It's only two more weeks and I have a lot of work to do. I really need to just prioritize and concentrate more. I keep scaring myself and telling myself I'll have to just study all over again and retake it if I fail. FAR was the first exam I took out of college, and I did horribly. I keep picturing this over and over and its making me just want to avoid the whole thing.
