    It used to be about 3 months. Anyone know if that’s changed? Thanks!

    You have to specifically ask them what application date they are processing. They processed 35 applications today. You'd be better off calling and asking them what application date they are currently processing.

    So my application was forwarded to the board on 4.24 and my name showed up on the website on 8.3.

    About 14.5 weeks from start to finish.

    Best of luck to you all

    Does anyone know how long it takes to review and process 1 application? I had 2 people before me and they got processed in 1 day. Called today to ask to see what day they are on yesterday and they said they are on 5/8 but it’s already past my application date. And I asked what my status was and was told that it is still under review as of yesterday. And to call back Tuesday… is that normal?? Does it take 4 days to look at just one application??!

    They have to verify your scores, your education, and also review/verify the CPA license status of the individual that's signing off on your verification, for the period of employment.
    Is it normal? Who knows with NYS. Just keep on top of it.

    Thanks Recked! Should I call before Tuesday? Since the woman said to call in a few days and I have a feeling she can remember me, would it hurt me if I do call today or tomorrow?

    I'm about 95% sure right now that they are only processing enough applications per day to stay within the 3 month time frame they tell everyone, and not a single application more. I'm guessing they are on their summer schedule.

    I'd call Friday. NYS is known to not notify people of problems in their application, so I'd be very concerned that there is an issue and you have not been notified.
    But I also would not call everyday. More likely than not, its nothing to worry about and you just need to be patient. Maybe towards the end of the day tomorrow?

    To be licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in New York State you must:

    be of good moral character;
    be at least 21 years of age;
    meet education requirements;
    meet examination requirements; and
    meet experience requirements.

    Have you met the education and experience requirements? Seems a stretch unless you are some child prodigy in which case, why did you go into accounting and not medicine or law.

    I feel like the AICPA and NYSSCPA should be embarrassed over NYS's lackadaisical approach to the approval process. You would think they would want NYS to take the approval process a little more seriously. Instead it's like going to the DMV but maybe worse with practically no accountability or transparency other than them telling you what application date they are on.
