    Hello everyone,

    I just found out today sadly that I did not pass Audit and will be unable to finish the four parts of the CPA Exam prior to 12/31/13. So I’ll now have to license under Pathway 2 and need 225 quarter units as opposed to the 180. I’m pretty sure I meet all of the additional accounting, business and ethics requirements(will verfiy with the CBA) under the second pathway, its the additional 45 units that I don’t have. Any one else have this dilemma? What are you doing to get quick units to license under the second pathway? And can I get this additional units through community college/online courses? Motivation to get through this thing dealt a serious blow today, but i will finish this freakin exam! Thanks so much for the help.

    @InsiWinsi

    That looks like a good fit for me as well. So you'd apply and just take the CLEP tests? Seems easy enough!

    Thats my plan 🙂 As soon as I am done with the CPA exams I will embark on this 🙂 Just really glad there is a community college that offers the same CLEP programs as San Jose Uni. Plus it will be cheaper than San Jose Uni.

    In regards to fulfilling the new CA ethics requirement, why not just use auditing, business law, and a class such as intro to philosophy? Most Acct program grads have taken these classes.

    I believe for the Ethic classes the 10 Credits – that becomes mandatory after 2017. So between now and 2017 you don't have to fulfill those but not to say if you don't have the opportunity that you can't go for it since it will still count. (See below how they have worded it for Jan 2014 to Dec 2016 – you “may” verses Jan 2017 – “Required of all”

    I think in the CLEP i saw classes for Intro to Business Law which will count towards the Ethics section.

    January 1, 2014 – December 31, 2016

    A maximum of 10 semester or 15 quarter units may be completed from courses containing any of the following terms in the course title.

    January 1, 2017 and ongoing

    A minimum of three semester or four quarter units in courses devoted to accounting ethics or accountants' professional responsibilities. Required of all applicants beginning January 1, 2017.
