    Hello everyone,

I just found out today sadly that I did not pass Audit and will be unable to finish the four parts of the CPA Exam prior to 12/31/13. So I’ll now have to license under Pathway 2 and need 225 quarter units as opposed to the 180. I’m pretty sure I meet all of the additional accounting, business and ethics requirements(will verfiy with the CBA) under the second pathway, its the additional 45 units that I don’t have. Any one else have this dilemma? What are you doing to get quick units to license under the second pathway? And can I get this additional units through community college/online courses? Motivation to get through this thing dealt a serious blow today, but i will finish this freakin exam! Thanks so much for the help.

    InsiWinsi,

I think their are 10 units we need for Ethics right? 2 classes with certain keywords from the list to qualify as Ethics courses. (It seems like a pretty arbitrary way of determining if it meets the requirements or not???)

For the CLEP exams I have someone who did take courses with them and it was valid for the CPA board. For Coursera I am going to try them after I have done my CPA exams 🙂

So like you I will focus on my exams, get those done and then look at how to get the credits.

My only concern is – where are we supposed to get the 10 Ethic's courses that CA CPA board want us to do, I can't seem to find that any where.

So is anyone is any wiser about that – hope you can please share with this poor lost soul.

@InsiWinsi Berkeley Extension has a decent amount of online accounting courses that are about $700-$900. I am considering there online tax course while I study for REG.

Finding ethical units should not be hard. I am getting my last 3 units of ethics from a business law course that is not online. I am crossing my fingers they take a World Religion class I took as another 3 units.

Its a pain in the a** that they made it 10 units and not 9 for the ethical requirement. Instead of taking 3 classes you have to take 3.33 classes. There goes one unit from auditing course.

Almost every community college offers quick book classes and those count as well.

I just sent an email to CBA about course overlaps so I will keep you guys posted on what they say.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

You guys know if the work requirements from pathway 1 or pathway 2 transfer into 2014. I believe I read 1 year somewhere, but I can't find it right now.
