    @h0wdyus

    Incorrect

The answer is B. Comparable sales.

“The use of comparable sales is not an income approach to valuation of a business, it is a market approach. Under the comparable sales approach, the value of a business is determined by comparing it to other entities with comparable characteristics for which the value is more readily determinable.”

    This was a tricky one

Hey guys, I take BEC on wednesday and haven't done any preparation whatsoever in regards to the writing portion. Do you guys have any tips or suggestions on this portion… or is there a particular way I should study for it? I've been focusing on the rest of the exam because I find BEC to be a bit of a beast.

To Charlie309; Your question refers to the “company's future” this implies planning, that is why strategic is the correct answer for that question since strategic involves long term planning for the future.

    REG - 50, 64, 73, 76
    FAR - 67, 65, 67 Ugh!!!
    BEC - 65
    AUD - November 30

“There is no spreadsheet tool for BEC..just a calculator. The calculator does have square root function.”

Is this a hint? I can only recall one BEC formula that requires that function. 🙂

    BEC 7/14 - PASS
    FAR 10/14 - PASS
    AUD 1/15 - PASS
    REG 4/15 - PASS

Hi everyone! I am new to this website and am taking BEC on August 9th. Any suggestions on study tactics? I am using Becker and having problems with B2 and B3. I am in a time crunch as my audit score rolls off on 11/30/14. Thanks!

    Audit – 93 (expires 11/30/14)

Can anyone offer their thoughts on how telling the first Becker BEC practice exam is? I know the second one is much harder, but I'm curious as to the significance of the first.

    Thanks.

@2014 I used becker too and this is my method. I listen to the entire lecture for each section, then I go through each subsection and read it through while taking notes. After that, I do the MCQs for that subsection. At the end of the chapter, I will make notecards on the formulas and mnemonics and quiz myself on them. I also purchased Becker's mobile flashcards and review them before bed or in the evenings while relaxing. Taking notes takes some time but I find that it really helps me be able to get through the MCQs without even having to look at the book, for the most part. This is what I've been doing for BEC and I've been scoring in the high 60s to 80's without having to use my book a lot for reference. I also try to do a few progress tests each week to keep the material fresh.

I've decided to move my exam to the middle of October. I refuse to rush this stuff and become stressed as I already am. Good luck to everyone in Q3!

Good luck in October! You'll do great @NJPRU. Probably worth it not to feel stressed out over it.

NJ – I remember BEC being really difficult to study for. Concepts are tricky, plus its a hodge podge of various topics. Would a week off from studying help? I hate to see you miss a window and being 3/4 of the way done. Who knows what October brings. Just your Q2 bud looking out.

I have to agree with @jrosen- If you can pass FAR, you can pass BEC. It seems daunting at first because a) it's internal accounting which seems so different from financial accounting and b) it's like 6 different college classes combined. I've taken this exam before and when I started studying for it this time around, I was annoyed all through the first section because it was so difficult. BUT, you have to do what's right for you 🙂

I am awaiting approval from NASBA Montana to sit for the exam. But meanwhile I started studying for BEC with Gleim.

    Post your trick questions here.

Failure is not an option 🙂

Thanks guys for your support. My plan is to keep the exam scheduled for August 23rd and I will push it back to October if need be. I'm not going to rush any of this stuff but I also know that if I dont keep going then I'll lose all the information I started studying with.. so it's essentially a race against time anyway. Ugh. Not even sure how I did this with AUD and FAR.
