I guess I am joining the study group. I had a hard time focusing the first time around and I know where I need to improve as far as study habits. Good luck everyone!

    Hello everyone,

I just found out I failed BEC the first time around so I figured I join the group here. I plan to re take in January. I too need to change my study habits, and put more time in.

I work full time, and am the mom taxi… Maybe I'll get the ninja audio for the car, and the kids can learn a little BEC too.

I plan on studying Jeff's way this time, and watching all of the videos first, taking notes, then do the multiple choice.

    Best of luck to everyone!

T-minus 6 hours until my showdown with BEC. As luck would try to screw me yesterday evening I got home from work and started to review. I go to plug in my laptop and, alas, the charger is no where to be found. No prob – I'm sure it's just in my car, right? I think you can see where this is going… :). So no multiple choice review for me these last two days unfortunately. Instead I've been reading my notes of all the chapters and rewriting formulas. Over the next 6 hours before the exam I'm going to focus in on variances and IT. wish me luck!

I have a MCQ from Becker that asks and states that the use of activity-based costing normally results in substantially greater unit costs for low-volume products than is reported by traditional product costing.

The explanation doesn't elaborate more than that answer option. Can someone please elaborate on why this is, and why it is not substantially lower unit costs vs higher? Thanks!

    @ I Want My Life Back 10.12

You're right. I just started B1 and I am finding the transition from Audit difficult. AUD was a lot more passive and theoretical. I have to use my brain more to understand these cost accounting questions, lol

As a ESL person, I'm really suffering in understanding those explanations.

Can anyone tell me how to study it efficience way???

Read book??? notes??? or just non-stop MCQ???

I spent like 2-5 mins to figure out those wrong answers for MCQ.

    I feel really slow now.

My exam time is Jan 14th, 2013.

    Using Becker 2012 material.

I was wondering what everyone is using to prepare for the BEC exam in January/February? I'm currently only using Becker (self-study). Is anyone using Cpareviewforfree or Wiley? Any suggestions?

I'm using the Wiley Test Bank, NINJA Audio, notes from Yaeger and an old 2011 Wiley BEC Book.

@CEH84: Thanks! I'm probably going to add Wiley test bank in addition to Becker. I am also considering Ninja notes but I might be adding too much. Have you or anyone tried Ninja notes? I just want to take this test once. I know what I am adding to my Santa list lol

    Hello,

Decided to join the study group since I just found out I passed Audit, now off to study for BEC… I'm taking the exam on Feb 1, and this is my only chance before my FAR credit expires (I know, I should have planned better… but studying is just so painful)…

Passed the other exams with Becker only, and left BEC to the end since for some strange reason I thought it would be the easiest one… silly me… now, that I read the comments, look at other peoples scores I start to really worry…

Question for those who took other exams – how would you compare them to BEC, and if you used becker did you think it prepared you enough?

    Good Luck!

    BEC - 79
    AUD - 83
    REG - 78
    FAR - 78 (expires Mar '13)

@CPAlano – nice question! unfortunately I am not far along with my studies to answer (only on B1-2)… but intuitively I would agree with you – the traditional product costing would include the economies of scale and if it is a low-volume will result in higher cost…… so please let me know if you find out…

    BEC - 79
    AUD - 83
    REG - 78
    FAR - 78 (expires Mar '13)
