@samdiegoCPA – I am glad you found the way I wrote it out t be helpful 🙂
To your second point, but none of the topics being connected… I felt that way my first time through BEC, but my second time through the material I tried to connect the dots between the sections in chapters, maybe this will help you…. Think of BEC for what it is, Business Environment Concepts… Think of all the little things that you need to capture and address when running a business… at a high level, you’’ need to:
– Develop a Board of Directors and an Audit Committee, that will need to know their roles, responsibilities, determine a financial expert, etc.
– Determine the framework for your internal controls procedures and policies and monitor them
– Create a means of measuring your employee’s performance and the impact of those measures on their behavior
– How the employees will be compensated
– How your products, services and business will be budgeted and measured
– How globalization and economics will affect your business and the ways you will need to adjust and account for this
– You’ll need to analyze your risks and opportunities, develop strategies, implement and monitor them
– You’ll need to invest and leverage your capital and investments to continue to generate growth and then be able to analyze and interrupt your investments
– Processes and Projects will need to be managed
– Create an information & technology environment for your business to run and operate
Try to think of the entire business environment and how these little areas equate to a well organized running company.
Good luck!
