Should it be 60 points for MC questions and 40 points for Simulations or 85/15? I am confused…

    Using Becker Review

    BEC 85 (2/25/2013)
    FAR waiting (4/27/2013)

Alright… Tomorrow is the big day, my rematch against BEC… Finally almost here… I've never felt so calm going into a section before. I am taking this as a sign that I am confident and ready to tackle this thing. I will pass BEC tomorrow. I will become a CPA.

Computing Equivalent Units are KILLING ME! Concept is two pages in my book, and very straight forward, but the MCQs are just WOW!!! Any pointers?

Just sat for BEC…. Second time, first time was a 73 in November 2012.

I am scared that I actually got a lower score this time.

Fatma, I think the Wiley book is enough; although I would work the questions 2 or 3 times each or until you have a clear understanding of the answers. I believe the reworking the questions in the Wiley book provides a greater benefit than working new questions.

So after 4Hrs. on like 25 MCQs… Can someone confirm or deny my comprehension of Calculating Equivalent Units of Production (EUOP)

    1. Must Consider EUOP METHODs

    i. Weighted Average Method (WA) = 0 + FG100% +EWIP%

    ii. FIFO Method (FIFO) = (BWIP%) + FG100% + EWIP%

    ***************************************************************************************************************************************

    2. Must Consider: Material% Depends on if added @ Beg. or End of Production:

    a. “MATERIAL EUOP”

    i. If, Added @ Beginning of Process @ B/EWIP100%

    WA Material = FG100% + EWIP100%

    FIFO Material = (BWIP100%) + FG100% + EWIP100%

ii. If, Added @ End of Process @ B/EWIP0%

    WA Material = FG100% + EWIP0%

    FIFO Material = (BWIP100%) + FG100% + EWIP0%

    ***************************************************************************************************************************************

    3. Must Consider: Conversion% Depends on % Completed

    a. “CONVERSION EUOP”

    i. WA Conversion = FG100% +EWIP%

    ii. FIFO Conversion = (BWIP%) + FG100% + EWIP%

    ***************************************************************************************************************************************

    4. Total Production Costs per EUOP (TC/UOP) = Material Cost / EUOP + Conversion Cos / EUOP

    a. Total Material Costs/EUOP

    i. Material WA TC / EUOP = (Material: Beg. Costs + Current Period Costs) / (WA Material EUOP)

ii. Material FIFO TC / EUOP = (Material: Current Period Costs) / (FIFO Material EUOP)

    b. Total Conversion Costs

    i. Conversion WA TC / EUOP = (Conversion: Beg. Costs + Current Period Costs) / (WA Conversion EUOP)

ii. Conversion FIFO TC / EUOP = (Conversion: Current Period Costs) / (FIFO Conversion EUOP)

    c. Total Production Costs per EUOP, Depends on Method Employed

    i. WA Total Production Costs = Material WATC/EUOP + Conversion WATC/EUOP

ii. FIFO Total Production Costs = Material FIFOTC/EUOP + Conversion FIFO/EUOP

    ***************************************************************************************************************************************

Sorry, just super frustrated, and had to put it all together from working MCQs and not the oversimplified explanations in the chapter read 🙁 So if anyone could confirm, correct, or provide better explanation that would be AWESOME!!!

No.cruncher, I can't help. I assume you are using Becker because steps 1 to 3 look Greek to me (I have no idea what B and E is before WIP). But step 4 looks right. A hint that I heard someone say, is WA includes units and costs from all periods and FIFO only includes units and costs in current period.

@Carver7 thanks anyway. I know that concept you just mentioned, and it read as such in the text, but as I worked the problems, it totally did not apply, which is why I'm so frustrated with this section. My mind was set on that frame of though, and it totally backfired!

    In any case:

BWIP = Beginning Work In Process

    FG = Finished Goods

EWIP = Ending Work in Process

*Also your supposed to subtract out BWIP supposedly instead of adding it in FIFO, and I guess you ignore it in WA…

    TC = Total Cost

EUOP = Equivalent Units of Production
