@aogreen everyone has a different way of studying. I tried typing my notes with FAR but realized it took too long when I could have been reinforcing what I had learned through other methods. This is how I tend to study: read the book, take notes, watch the lecture do MCQ (all by sections of course) once I am done, complete SIMs. Try to take daily progress test of 50-100 questions through out the process (it helps retain the info) Once done with the entire book go over my notes, one chapter at a time and do questions for the chapter covered. two days before exam day take the practice test for the purpose of preparing me for the actual exam to familiarize myself with how the exam is going to be in regards to time. The day before I take it easy, review little things here and there.

Rough night for me. One of those evenings where the focus just isn't there and scored terribly in sections I normally don't. Stress and no sleep is catching up with me as test day approaches!

That happens dtatham. Believe me, I've had plenty of those nights. It will pass. Just did a series of 30 questions testlet in ninja and averaging 85%. I am currently trending 87%, averaging 82% with 297 questions not seen. I've completed 2831 questions and reached 72% of the adaptive learning phase. I pray to god that the simulations won't be so bad. Atleast I can take my time, I have 8 hours to complete this exam. I'll be ready for my date at 8 AM tomorrow.

@papogator24 thanks! I need to get back in a positive state of mind!

Good luck today! Based on your #'s looks like you'll do great! As you've heard many times don't rush–read the questions carefully as Audit is nothing but a word game!

@Papogator – I wish I could have as many hours as you it certainly takes some stress away not having to stare at that clock on the top of the screen. But good luck to you

    @dtatham10
    – I've had those days and as a matter of fact after been studying yesterday for over 5 hours my last MCQs on a progress test I was working on made me bomb it because my concentration wasn't there anymore.

@dtatham10- having one of those days today- would much rather be looking at football stats for my upcoming fantasy draft than studying audit…. damn I hate I didn't finish these test in time for football season….

and they ask me why I drink...

REG-75- Never been so happy to see such a low grade

@mckan I know how you feel! It's impossible not to look ahead. It wasn't long ago when I was waiting on my REG results that I was looking forward to early Sept when my Audit score got released and I would finally be done with studying…whelp I failed REG! So that pushes me back at least a month from my dream of this being over!

I find my scores tend to trend down when I tell myself I need to get through X amount of questions in the next hour or two because then I have a rushed mindset (that's how last night was along with being exhausted and in a terrible mood lol). When I just go through questions with no time or quantity of questions in mind is when I score the best.

    Side note…Go Colts!

    Alright back to work

An entity's internal control requires for every check request that there be an approved voucher, supported by a prenumbered purchase order and a prenumbered receiving report. To determine whether checks are being issued for unauthorized expenditures, an auditor most likely would select items for testing from the population of all:

    A. Canceled Checks — CORRECT
    B. Approved Vouchers
    C. Receiving Reports
    D. Purchase Orders

I didn't think any of these answers sounded good but went with C. I don't understand how a canceled check proves unauthorized transactions. Are they saying the check was canceled in the system but may actually still be a live check? Otherwise, if it's canceled (i took this the same as voided) then its irrelevant the check was voided the expense has been reverse no issues. At least with a receiving report there is a chance something was ordered and received in that actually didn't go through the approval process. But I guess that's ruled out because the question is specifically stating that they are looking for supporting documentation with PO's, RECEIVING REPORTS, and Approved vouchers, so just by eliminating those I suppose it gets you to the answer…still can't make sense of a canceled check proving anything

To me is more like after a check is paid it is stamped as paid and cancelled voucher package. Thus by looking at cancelled checks you can see if it was properly authorized or not. I have issues with transaction cycles as well so if anybody else has another opinion please share.

crap I have spent all morning on transaction cycles and went with C- receiving reports as well…. I think what aa says makes sense but damn I am having the hardest time make the leap of inference that these questions require.

@aatoural until someone tells me otherwise I will go with that. Canceled voucher package is a new term which I have never heard till I started studying. I will assume canceled check = canceled voucher package.

I am trying to squeeze my brain for these transaction cycles and sometimes I just get the right idea but backwards. It is frustrating I agree.

@mckan – I use receiving reports only when is something related to make sure that merchandise was received or to test completeness that all items received were properly accounted for. But it is more of a mechanic thing because the logic wasn't working for me on these.

I have trouble understanding this question in its entirety:

The auditor should determine whether providing a nonaudit service would create a threat to independence, either by itself or in aggregate with other nonaudit services provided, with respect to any audit it performs in accordance with Generally Accepted Government Auditing Standards. A critical component of this determination is:
    a. Ability of a professional staff member who was not a member of the audit team to review the
    work performed.CORRECT
    b. Consideration of management’s ability to effectively oversee the nonaudit service to be
    performed.
    c. Ability to remove the auditor involved in the nonaudit service from the audit team.
    d. Ability of outside auditors to independently review the nonaudit service.
