I was wondering how do I position amongst peers and what to look for in the future.

Maybe everyone could post the Bonus % they get and the # of years of experience they have in the field or company ?

I know that there is a different salary topic out there, Let dedicate this to Bonus, or both whatever you are comfortable with.

Me: 2 years of experience, 60k & 6% Bonus – Internal Audit Function 2 weeks of vacation

    Thanks for sharing 🙂

Steph. those are some awesome benefits. 9% match, 36 days off, 35 hour work weeks (which is like another day off every 2 weeks.) all your med/dental picked up. you are getting shafted in salary dept but the price tag on that bene package is pretty decent to. usually companies default to the other end (high pay crap benes) its interesting to see one thats on the opposite end of the spectrum.

1.5 years experience (hey that .5 counts when it's so little of a number! 😉 – 1 yr at former employer, 6 mos with current employer )

Average base pay (I'm in a low COL area, so if I told you the numbers, you'd think I was underpaid…but adjusted by COL it's in the average range)

    No bonus

Raises based on EBIT, executive's moods, the weather, the price of snails in Timbuktu (no, not literally 😉 ), and anything else that comes up

Currently 8 days PTO; goes up to 11 after a year; 5 or 6 paid holidays

Insurance benefits about average; 401(k) optional but no employer contribution

Well, for full disclosure, our hours are 9-5 with a 1 hour lunch. I've been so busy this year, I work through my lunch most days, but I also occassionally goof off on Another71 too so it evens out. I'm anticipating putting in some hours this weekend just because I've been pulled into this special project unable to get my normal work done. But when I work OT it's like 40 to 45 hours and that is rare.

I was actually looking around interviewed even and came to the conclusion I have it too good. I don't want to tell them that though… Anyway once I pass (actually once I'm licensed) I'm being promised some mystery promotion and raise. No details on what my title or pay increase will be though. :-/ I have it good and I'm a like an accounting rockstar here. Lol.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.

I spent 2 yrs in Big 4, joined IA last Oct. $80K base, 4% 401k match, 9% bonus target (up/down based on earnings targets). 15 days PTO and 15 holidays. It's a pretty sweet deal so far. Insurance and all is also affordable.

Good role so far. I hope to keep progressing. Getting stuck anywhere, even if I've got golden handcuffs, just makes me anxious.

I think I should have also asked generally about the Cost of Living … New York is not the same as a little town in the Midwest… I'm in Palm Beach County – Florida. Dont get me wrong, I would love to live in a Little town in the Midwest, I did during school, But I had to move for my Job.

It's funny to see this topic on the same day I receive my bonus. I got my bonus for 2013 today, it was around 3.54% (target is 5% but depends on company performance and a little bit of personal performance). Less than two years experience.

5 years of experience (3 years public accounting, 2 years in industry – asset management). 110k base in a large metropolitan city, 30% bonus average year. Can be higher if the firm performs well. All benefits paid for by firm. Holidays are market holidays, 2 weeks vacation.

The asset management industry (hedge funds, venture capital, mutual funds) has very lucrative salaries, even for their back office accountants.

I spent 3 years at a Big 4 in their asset management team. Then transitioned to a mid-size hedge fund (500+ million) as a senior fund accountant. Worked hard, proved myself and just made assistant controller at the end of last year.

$38k entry level, 24 days PTO to start. All holidays off including Xmas eve and day after thanksgiving, half day New Year's Eve. $60/mo dental, vision, and health insurance, $2500 profit sharing after only 3 months on the job and it's based off time with company and your boss's descretion could be more as we grow. 40 hour work week 9-5 with lunch. Unlimited break room snacks (fruit, candy, soda…). Work from home whenever is encouraged with company laptop if you don't want to go to the office that day. I'm also in line for a raise as I was hired before I graduated and a degree receives 5% increase at anniversary. CPA license would receive another 10% increase at anniversary. I asked and you can get both if you time it correctly at one anniversary. So by October I could be upwards of $44K after 1 year of work.

    Software company accountant.
