    I am 58 and have been an eligible candidate for years. I have worked full time – 10 years at a public accounting firm- and been raising 3 kids, never really feeling like i had time enough to study. Meanwhile people were passing and passing. I passed two sections (then got a 73 then 2- 74s on BEC- really) then lost the credits I had due to life interfering with my study time again. I am now in the position to study full time- for the first time ever and I am making a plan. It would be great to have some encouragement. Has anyone as old as I am ever tackled the exam???

    @skynet
    If we get 50 membership, let's file for an IPO. I'm also proposed legislation for a “Senior CPA-ARP” tax credit.

    I will be 61 in two days. I was laid off my last good job in the 2008 recession. Nothing but multiple poorly paid jobs since then. Finally decided to get retrained. I just got the BS, summa, in Accounting four weeks ago. I already had more than enough hours from previous degrees but had no business or accounting hours before. As mentioned above, I thought the semesters would go by whether I took a degree or not. Now I'm down to FAR, it's a relief to have only one left. My mother was a bookkeeper. She never called herself an accountant, but still that made it seem like a normal thing to do. I never once heard her say the words “debit” or “credit.” I guess she just didn't bring the work home. Wish I could discuss it with her now, but I like thinking she'd be pleased.
