InactiveJust started my new job and after looking around at what everyone was wearing, I feel I need to step up my business casual attire! Does anyone recommend any good places to get work clothes that won’t break the bank?

Member@mints! Love the cpa added to my name! 🙂 The fitbit is fashionable too….right!? Mine is black so no one knows I wear it.
I am rocking some red Nine West Heels today. 🙂 My coworkers don't know what to do with color!
As for bags/handbags/bags of life that can fit everything. I shop Coach. Specifically Coach Outlet (there is a fantastic outlet mall 25 minutes from my house) DANGEROUS is all I have to say. Now this may sound ridiculous but my favorite Coach bag is…a diaper bag. So many pockets, holds everything and the kitchen sink! It was a gift but my grandma *only* paid $200 and I have had it for more than 4 years and it still looks great. Best part…it does not look like a diaper bag!
I am all for the flat iron too. I have crazy frizzy wavy curly not really sure what hair and the flat iron is my very very best friend! And I will second the G2B products. They are amazing especially for the price!

InactiveToday I am wearing black skinny ankle trousers paired with a black and white blouse (front is mostly black with white print, and the back is mostly white with black print). I am also wearing red pumps (red suede pointy toe pumps with a pewter metallic heel). I also have a camel brown leather jacket (chilly office temperatures)…
My makeup is pretty basic, except for my red lipstick (matches the red pumps). My hair is afro-textured hair. Last night I twisted it up in small sections and untwisted them this morning. I live in Los Angeles and I work in a entertainment accounting firm, so I feel like I can get away with wearing my hair big and curly
I actually think more people should embrace their curly textured hair!
What are you guys wearing today? What did you wear today for work?

Inactiveooh, Kate Spade is my favorite. I'm thinking after these exams are finished it may be my gift to myself. The “Quinn” styles are perfect. They totally fit a file folder or standard pad of paper. So it “kind of” doubles as a small briefcase. My husband bought me one a few years ago and its pretty much the only purse I use. They only have one Quinn style out right now, in previous years they had several styles.
Tall boots can be expensive, but I found a leather pair in the discount rack at DSW for $76. I figured it was worth it because I won't have to buy nylons and wearing tube socks to work sounds like a great idea in my book.
I was at the GAP this weekend and they have some nice blazers. Good quality, lined and nice fit. They're having a 35% off sale so you can get some of them for $57. Not too bad as blazers go. https://www.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=5736#style=51452

ParticipantWOW…favorite thread thus far….My input. I wear skirts and dress about 3 times a week. Target is my favorite store for clothes period. Express is a close second. The editor pants last a long time and I can always find a great fit. I don't purchase many shirts out of Express because they are very expensive. JCP, AT Loft, Black House White Market, Charlotte Russe have sales that are really good. I always go with Nine West for heels. The ones I have purchased do not hurt my feet and they are on sale whenever I do purchase. I also wear ballet flats. Old Navy has them for about $16 with a coupon when they are worn out replace them for $16…
FYI: The most expensive items in my closet are my Express pants and Cardigans every thing else I will not pay more than $20-$25 for…
I agree the hair and very minimal jewelry pull the entire look together. YouTube and Pinterest are really good places to find hair ideas.
I also do my own nails but if all else fails clear polish is a go to.

InactiveMints – Those are the boots that I have been looking for forever!!! I have a skirt that I made too long and it's lined so I can't just hem it again. It looks stupid with pumps and flats are a joke, so I never wear it. Those boots are PERFECT! And on sale. Hmmmm, by birthday is next Sunday. I deserve it? Right?

Participant@smp71 I wear BodyMedia it is comparable to the BodyBugg and I am constantly asked what is it!! I should have went the FitBit route…
While I was studying I did not purchase clothes or shoes because I couldn't fit anything comfortably but my weakness was definitely handbags!! For work I carry a caramel color Coach satchel or Red Express satchel just to keep it simple.

ParticipantLadies, we need to start implementing Instagram!!! 🙂
@Kricket If I know anyone who deserves to treat themselves, it's YOU! 🙂 Glad that you are doing well Lady!!!
@CPA4birthdaypresent I love #OOTD posts!!! Black bootcut pants with a black lace front belted cardigan and black shell underneath. Shoes are black leather round toe wedges. I tend to wear black on black on black 24/7! I wear so much black that one of the guys in my building calls me Mrs. Cash! My dad was a big Johnny Cash fan growing up otherwise I would have never got that one! 😉
As for purses…I wish that I were as practical with my bags as my apparel but not so much! I love bags as much as I love shoes!!!! If there is one area where quality is greater than quantity it's on purses and shoes, hands down. I'm obsessed with Coach, Kate Spade, Louis Vuitton, and Prada. My weight tends to go up and down which is why I'm cost effective on apparel but my shoe size and purse needs never change!!! 😉
Here is some instagram handiwork of a few of my favorites: https://instagram.com/p/goblMQoZrp/
The Coach bag pictured was a christmas gift from my mom 2 years ago and it's my daily bag. The 2 Prada bags with my dog, Mr. B, were purchased around 2008 and look just as good now as they did when I bought them! The one with the bow is lambskin leather and feels amazing…even my clueless husband goes “ooooohhhh” when he picks it up! Ha! My Louis clutch is from 2005 and is holding up well considering! The handles tend to darken as the leather ages, the strap and zipper pulls were bone white when I bought it. My Flat in London isn't as well known as it should be! Their bags are whimsical but beautifully made and well constructed.
@Sbarker White House/Black Market is the best!!!!! 🙂

InactiveAs far as pants vs. skirts vs. dresses…
DRESSES win it for me! They're effortless because it's just one piece you throw on, but at the same time it looks like you're trying because it's a dress.
Skirts are a close second though merely because of my body type…I'm a pear shape…I have hips, thighs, and booty lol…but I wear an A cup bra lol…my waist is also small compared to my lower half…so pants are difficult because when they fit on my legs, they're too big for my waist and vis versa…SO annoying! Dresses are fine because although I am a pear shape, I just find whatever size fits my lower half and then wing it for my upper body (HENCE WHY I NEED TO LEARN TO SEW lol)
yes OOTDs are fun Mints!
