InactiveJust started my new job and after looking around at what everyone was wearing, I feel I need to step up my business casual attire! Does anyone recommend any good places to get work clothes that won’t break the bank?

InactiveAnn Taylor and JCrew – add yourself to their email list and wait for sales – they both have really great sales. JCrew not usually till end of season but AT has them all the time. And neither of their clothes will fall apart on you one season later.

InactiveDillards, Macy's – they have great clearance sales. I've bought blouses as low at $5 and nice slacks for $8-10, just have to search
Ross and Marshalls also good places
Good luck

InactiveI try to purchase quality wardrobe essentials and cheaper trendy items. I agree with the previous posters, I wait for the sales emails because they happen ALL of the time. Anymore I feel like if I pay full price I am being ripped off, because they have sales so often. I want to add Express to the list, their machine washable Editor pants are pretty good quality. You can usually get them buy 1 get 1 50% off, right now there is a sale going on for that plus $25 off every $100 you spend.

InactiveI buy 90% of my clothes at Banana Republic. Once you finally figure out what size you are there, it's the best place. Literally every day I receive a coupon for there between 30 and 40% off. It's fantastic. AND If you can find a Banana Republic Factory store than you're set.

InactiveIt's interesting to read this and see the variety of people's definitions of not breaking the bank…I expect it has a lot to do with the level of position, wage, and location of each poster!
My personal “not breaking the bank” is probably going to be on the lowest end here. I usually get some work clothes for Christmas, and outside of that, my budget is $120/yr. Not saying I always stick to that, but that's my goal. My single favorite store is Burke's Outlet – it's the only outlet store around, and since it's on my route to work, I can stop every now-and-then and watch for good prices. I can usually get dress pants there for $15-20/pr and tops for $10-20 depending on the sale. I've also found some good dress pants at JC Penney for not-ridiculous prices. And of course, if there's a lot of business people in your area, watch Goodwill! The region that I am in has a very small professional workforce, so there's not too much to find at our second-hand stores, but in other places that I've lived, those stores are a Godsend.

MemberMacy's clearance – hit it on the weekend when they have an additional sale of 50-75% off of their clearance prices – There is a clearance rack in the business section, head there first. I get my summer tops during this time of year, and my winter tops during next spring.
Tjmaxx – Be careful of some of their prices, go in with knowing what you need then set a price you won't go over. Love this store
Marshalls – great store if you want brand named items for half the price, I go here for specific things that fit me well. (pants)
Ross – This store is hit and miss for me, if you have the time to go through all those racks you can find a good deal
JC Penny's – This is a great store, I have an app that gives me discounts off my purchases here, When I get a good coupon I go online and load up.

MemberWhere do people find business shoes that are comfortable at a reasonable price? Everything on clearance kills my feet, and I won't buy shoes second hand.

Participant^ Aersoles and Naturalizer are good comfort shoe stores. If you lean more toward comfort then style, Aerosoles. If you will sacrifice a little more comfort for style, then Naturalizer.
Ecco is known to be comfortable and very stylish, but a little more pricey.
