Just started my new job and after looking around at what everyone was wearing, I feel I need to step up my business casual attire! Does anyone recommend any good places to get work clothes that won’t break the bank?

As far as pants vs. skirts vs. dresses…

DRESSES win it for me! They're effortless because it's just one piece you throw on, but at the same time it looks like you're trying because it's a dress.

Skirts are a close second though merely because of my body type…I'm a pear shape…I have hips, thighs, and booty lol…but I wear an A cup bra lol…my waist is also small compared to my lower half…so pants are difficult because when they fit on my legs, they're too big for my waist and vis versa…SO annoying! Dresses are fine because although I am a pear shape, I just find whatever size fits my lower half and then wing it for my upper body (HENCE WHY I NEED TO LEARN TO SEW lol)

    yes OOTDs are fun Mints!

@Mints Just wanted to say “thanks for the advice” quickly! This evening is all tied up with house shopping (and now adding car shopping to the list – looks like my engine block is broken 🙁 ), so can't read/post more, but wanted to thank you for the advice and I will look into the items you recommended!

Now I need some help! I don't normally wear make-up, well, I almost NEVER wear it. The reason is because my skin breaks out so bad! You'd think that celebrating the 24th anniversary of my 21st birthday this coming Sunday, I wouldn't have this problem. It wasn't so bad in the past, so I'm thinking it could be the meds or the lack of a thyroid, anyway… Does anyone have any suggestions? I've tried every brand Wal-mart sells, Prescriptives, and Clinique. They all did the same thing. Any suggestions? I don't wear much jewelry, just my wedding band (which I haven't taken off in 13 years, so take that you jerk doctors who say they can't operate if you are wearing one, they will operate!), and my diamond earrings. The earrings are 1/4 carat studs that I had set in the posts you use to get your ears pierced. I never take them off either. I own a couple of watches, but for reasons I won't go into, I don't wear them. And necklaces just seem to draw attention to the crooked scar on my throat. My hair, I've come to terms with. It's curly and no amount of heat or product will make it straight. Usually, I put it in a french braid or a pony tail. I really should cut it since it's falling out faster than it's growing back and I'm sure a lot of that is just breakage. But the make up thing is really beginning to bother me. Any suggestions?

OMG your handbags are amazing…. I may just have been converted to like handbags now…. They look great for the years you purchased them all in! I bought a purse a year ago from JC Penny and it's falling apart and is embarrassing to carry around right now.

Maybe a treat when I pass BEC and FAR.

I don't think I will ever be able to start another thread that blows up like this but AWESOME input ladies! So, for dresses…….I live on the East Coast and it's very very chilly. I work at a big national firm and don't think that a nice dress paired with a jean jacket which would be adorable in college will go over well at work. So, what is your favorite pairing with dresses? Simple cardigan/sweater or formal blazer?

@jennifer241 Everyone deserves a nice handbag!

@jeff I receive compliments on my bag all the time 🙂

@kricket I have sensitive skin as well and hate the feeling of foundation on my skin. Almay, Neutrogena and Clinique are all good brands for sensitive skin. I use a good moisturizer (never go cheap on moisturizer), some loose powder (almay) and a little blush. The powder evens out my skin tone a bit. Then I play up the eyes. A little eyebrow pencil to darken my light brows, eyeliner on top lids (not the bottom because it can make “older gals” like myself look tired) and mascara on the top lashes, skip the bottom lashes. I use brown liner and black/brown mascara because the true black colors look too harsh. A little lipstick or gloss and that's it for me. Its enough to look polished but doesn't taken a ton of time in an early morning tax season stupor. I also have some face wipes in my desk (I like the Burts Bees ones). During tax season when I'm working long hours sometimes my skins feels greasy and yucky at the end of the day and the wipes do the trick to freshen up and keep my skin clean.
