InactiveJust started my new job and after looking around at what everyone was wearing, I feel I need to step up my business casual attire! Does anyone recommend any good places to get work clothes that won’t break the bank?

MemberI would say I buy 50-60% of my work clothes at Old Navy and Gap. They have great sales, I order online try it on and return what I don't like to the store. I get tons of complements on the trendy dresses I wear and cute tops. Is it the best quality, no, but If I get 5-10 wearings out of a dress that cost me 30, I think I did all right. I love Banana Republic too but they can be a little more expensive. I have a few more expensive but still very reasonable skirts from the Limited which last a really long time if you take good care of them. I also have purchased a few trendy items from target when I spot something I love. Another go to store for me is Ann Taylor Loft they have good sales if you wait for them and I think they are fairly reasonable too. Do you have a Zara by you? Very trendy but not expensive at all.
Good luck, however don't get into a habit of trying to keep up with everyone else you'll end up being miserable, speaking from personal experience.
A - 61, 91!!
B - 78!
F - 76!!!
R - 71, 73, 74, 69, 77!!!!Finally done!
This is my 2nd attempt at the exam, I had two parts passed (failed many) and I stupidly quit, big mistake. Now I'm back and with a vengeance!

MemberKeep your eye out for sales– places like Ann Taylor, New York and Co, The Limited are always having like 30%, or 40% off sales. Also, if you have an outlet mall near you, check them out for deals. The outlets don't always have the best prices, but sometimes you can get some really good stuff at a low price.
F- 7/13- 84
R- 10/13- 79
A- 11/13- 99
B- 1/14- 86Licensed in PA- 3/20/2014
This exam ALMOST defeated me back in 2006-2008, but I came back and WON!

InactiveI tend to shop the sales at The Limited, Loft, Banana Republic, Kohls, and NY&Co. Target has been one of my biggest surprises this past year–I can get tons of cute outfits for low prices. I used to shop at Old Navy, but their clothes seem to start looking bad after a few wears. As a semi-recent grad, I can't afford to replace my entire wardrobe every couple of months. I rather buy better quality clothes that will last for a season or more.
Some of the accessories that I have received the most compliments on are things I purchased at Jane.com for less than $10.
A lot fashion bloggers have done a 30×30 challenge and it really helped me learn that I really don't need a ton of clothes. You can easily mix and match clothes and end up with completely different looks.

ParticipantI love Ann Taylor, Limited, Banana, JCrew, and TJ Maxx/Marshalls as well! Rue la la is also a great site for deals on higher end brands like Tahari, Lilly Pulitzer, and pieces that you would find at stores like Nordstrom. Nordstrom is having their half-yearly sale right now…my husband is living in fear!!! Gilt is also a great shopping site as well, and like Rue La La, has a great app for your smartphone. I'm in the camp that a handful of quality and versatile pieces are greater than quantity.
Another strategy I have is to stalk high end sites for killer sales, specifically Brooks Brothers! Right now they are having a 70% off of everything on clearance…there are killer deals to be had. I'm obsessed with their non-iron dress shirts, normally $100, on sale for $39!
Side note: Today I found at my local Marshals a black wool Ralph Lauren sweater with a red and white diamond pattern on the top originally $198 on the clearance rack for $39! It has a cowl neck and the pattern looks like something you'd see in a ski lodge. It will work with jeans, black dress pants, heels, flats, skinny pants and boots…endless combinations, high quality, and a low price…basically my holy trinity of shopping! Squeal!!!! 🙂

InactiveKohls and New York & Company are my go-to stores after each pregnancy when I don't fit into my old clothes yet, but don't want to wear maternity clothes anymore. If you are on a strict budget I would also suggest going to the thrift shops or goodwill in the nice areas near you. I'll drive out of my way to hit up the ones near the neighborhood where a lot of our NFL players live because you can find a lot of really nice stuff, plenty of it that still has tags on it.

InactiveAnn Taylor and JCrew – add yourself to their email list and wait for sales – they both have really great sales. JCrew not usually till end of season but AT has them all the time. And neither of their clothes will fall apart on you one season later.
