Is it worth the investment? My eyes are 5 grand from Lasik.. and in this study process.. it made some damage..

Those glasses that gamers use.. do they even work? are they worth it? Does anyone know of a good brand/ pair? I’m on a cpu 12+ hours… from 9am – probalby 12am..

Or should I just do the 20/20/20 rule? which is look away for 20 seconds, every 20 minutes, and then stand up and look away the next 20 minutes… whatever it is..

I use Flux. Look at your walls at night with the lights on. Notice it has a yellowish tint from the light bulbs? Flux does the same thing to your laptop and gives it a more natural color experience.

My company recommends the 20/20 rule. We're a large health insurers and we self-insured our employees (including vision). Won't hurt to practice it.

As for computer glasses, I have a pair of Gunnar that I use at the office. I've gotten used to them and they seems to help reducing eyes fatigue especially during crunch time when I work intensely. At home, I use Flux as spartan recommended above.

Woot.com sometimes sell Gunnar at about $35ish to $50ish depending on style and color.

    REG - 72, 72, 81
    BEC - 77
    FAR - 70, 81
    AUD - 74 "so that's what it feels like." Round 2: 79

Passing the exam is not impossible task. GIVING UP is the only way YOU can make it impossible!

We have Gunnars on the way here. My boyfriend is a computer geek (programmer/designer), so when he needed new glasses, we ordered some prescription Gunnars for him. If they work well, then I'm going to get some, because between work and home, I'm on the computer more hours than I want to admit! I'm debating whether to get prescription ones or wear contacts with the regular ones…anyone here have experience using them with contacts?

My thought is that for the work environment, it'd be nice to be able to take off the tinted glasses and talk to people without having the weird colors, hence the reason to wear contacts and just use the Gunnars when I'm working on the computer (which would be the majority of the time), but I'm not sure how well they'd work with contacts.

I'll have to look up Flux, too. My boyfriend had done some research before picking Gunnars, so he might already know all about Flux, but it's a new name to me…might do some of my own research. šŸ˜‰

@Lilla Gunnar also has crystalline lenses that aren't tinted. They were designed with graphic designers in mind, which means that you still see the full color on the screen, but somehow it still reduces the eye strain (I think they use magic :P). I may look into those since they don't look as wonky. I'm also color blind, so anything that enhances color is good. Otherwise, I could end up making a PowerPoint presentation with some interesting shades of purple thrown in there. šŸ™‚

@barely Yeah, I wasn't sure if they were as effective…probably depends how the magician is feeling on the day they're made. šŸ˜‰ If you get some, be sure to let us know how they work for you! I'd love it if I could get glasses that look normal and that (I assume?) can be worn for “normal” things, too, but which also relieve computer eyestrain! And LOL, throw in some purple – it'll liven things up. šŸ˜‰

I downloaded flux, and is using it now.. it does kinda help.. I think i will stick to it as of right now.. the screen is dimmer, and kind of slightly like the color of sunset.. so it is a lot less bright.. I like it..
