@warriorGleim test bank still has SOX questions as well. Read the AICPA Statements on Tax Services instead the new due dates as well.

Took REG 8/31 after about 2 months of on and off studying.. Was hard to stay refreshed on everything when taking 5 day breaks. I am not a tax guy by any means and thought the MC was very doable. The SIMS were a nightmare, but just remain calm. Finish the ones you do know first and move on to the others trying to get every point you can. Like filling in ‘None' or ‘0' if their are blanks you know are not applicable. I'm now 50% done and Moving on to AUD next. Good luck to everyone and their studies.

I am using Yaeger video lectures & also have NINJA audio. Unless I have missed it, I haven't heard either one discuss a large portion of Module 39 in Wiley, which includes sources of federal tax authority (IRC, legislative regulations, etc) as well as tax planning. I know the breakdown includes this as 11-15% of the exam but the fact that I haven't heard it mentioned in any lecture was making me think I was going crazy. Can anyone tell me this is definitely tested and necessary to study?

Disregard my question above. I have only taken BEC which didn't have any research. The research part is new to me so I sound very ignorant about questioning the IRC 🙂

@skibum1990 went ok i guess. You def have to know everything, especially the small details. Ran through the first testlet no problem, maybe flagged 3 at the most. Second testlet, i couldn't really tell if it got “harder” but did notice a good amount of questions were very specific. Third was just like the first testlet – not sure if that was a good sign. I feel okay about the MCQ, but know i missed a handful of questions for sure.

The SIMS were cray. its material i already knew but asked a different way. That is what kind of threw me off. The research was the only one i felt confident with. Everything else was a nightmare especially the DRS. Didn't leave any blank, i made sure to fill in a number. I've already accepted the fact i'll be retaking. I do hope this ends up as one of those miraculous “feel like you failed but passed” stories lol, but eh what are you gonna do ..

Get familiar with the tax form (1040), it will help you see the big picture and what's below and above AGI. B-law is just as important. Peter Olinto will keep you entertained.

On this sim, why do we multiply one asset by an extra 50%, but not other? They are both being put into service on 1/1/x1.

    Ninja Sim #46
    Old truck depreciation:
    $44,000 × 25.5% × 50% = $5,610 half-year convention, 150% declining balance

    Combine depreciation:
    $35,000 × 19.13% = $6,696 half-year convention, 150% declining balance

@reg_slayer… I had the same question when I was looking at it…it states to ignore all bonus depreciation, which I thought would've been what that was for…
