InactiveBack from the test.
Not too bad, had to do some guessing. But I think I passed. I hope so, because this is my last test! Good luck to all.
If we took it today, do we find out in the next score release (next week)?

MemberThank you Jeff! Hopefully on the test AICPA will give the amounts 🙂
Got those Ninjas printed and went over about 1/3 & added own notes.
@audiox, glad to hear that you had good times, you are probably already done – just don't know it!

InactiveI'm excited for you Wendy and audiox! I'm glad to hear you guys felt OK with how it went.
I came down off the ledge today, finished my review, and took the first review exam. I hurried through, so made some stupid mistakes. If I add those back, I got around 71%.
I was surprised I got the AMT questions right. Business law and partnerships seem to be pretty good, as well. I completely blew the ones on deductions. There were a lot and I missed the majority of them. I think I just need to get back to basics on this.
Anyway, here's the plan:
– Deductions, deductions, deductions – know them!
– Practice gain on property sold by a partnership above a partner's basis
– Hot assets
– Secured transactions
– American Opportunity Credit
– Lifetime Learning Credit
– Tax Forms – Get a general idea of what's what
– Tax Rates – Memorize them
– AMT Calc – Practice
– Retained Earnings Reconciliation – I feel like this could be on there somehow. Anyone have thoughts on this?
I'm listening to Jeff while I sleep…right around 1am it starts getting to me and I have to take the headphones off. Hopefully the info sticks!

Participant@Audiox and Wendy – congrats on getting through it! 🙂
My original test date was the 14th, with the expectation to get my score wave 2. I'm sure you'll get it around 5/22-5/23
Good Luck!
AnnaNutha, I like your break down of focus areas. It reminded me to make a note card to highlight differences on similar credits. 🙂
Taj – I think the 29th will be a great day to pass REG!
Regarding Sec. 179 – I'm sticking with the 139/560 for my May exam.

Membermy test was originally later in the month (20th) and I rescheduled to the 14th. I had been thinking my test release date would not bu until June 10th. It's awesome that I'll know so soon. Waiting is awful. I was planning on knocking out the ethics in between during the wait – better start on it at lunch today since my time is short!

InactiveSo, when I take up poker as a sport, I will report my $5K winnings on line 21 of the 1040, yes? But, my losses must be reported elsewhere as a deduction from AGI, I think. So, would the losses go on schedule A? On line 28 maybe?
We can't net our gambling gains and losses?

MemberFor those who are about to take the test or have recently taken the test, how did you allocated your study time in the week leading up to the test between tax, business law, and ethics. It takes me just as long to go through BL study questions as it does for Tax. I am wondering if I should focus on tax, and then a day or two before the test review BL questions one more time.

Inactivekip_snoodles, after I finished all the problems in all the chapters, I went back and re-did all the ones I had marked. I have gone over my notes, or at least a chapter or two of them, each day. After I felt I had redone all the problems that I missed and my notes at least two or three times, I took the first practice test in Becker. After I took it, I re-did all the ones I missed and noted what topics I missed on the exam.
I'm taking hints from the exam where I need to go next and continuing to read my notes over and over.
Today, I went back and re-did the questions I got wrong on the test in Becker a third time. I have begun picking off the items on my checklist and have moved on from my own notes to the Ninja Notes.
In addition to that, I continue listening to the Ninja audio tapes both in the car to and from work and while I'm working. I started listening to them while I'm asleep, but I don't know that does any good. I guess I've listened to them all around 4 times over.
I'm going to continue reviewing what I needed to brush up on and open up Wiley to do the sims in there. Also, I will continue reading my notes and the Ninja notes.
Saturday I'll take the 2nd Becker practice exam. That will give me about three days for final review and to continue reading the notes.
6 more days to study…

ParticipantAnnaNutha – Gambling winnings are taxable. Gambling Losses are deductible on Schedule A if you itemize, but can't be greater than the amount of winnings reported on 1040 line 21. They are not subject to 2% floor.
Also, a good factoid to remember just in case, embezzled & illegal income is taxable! LOL. Because we know thieves will report that on their income statement 🙂
Actually, I guess it's for when they are caught. Then the IRS can get their share of thievery before they are sent to prison.

MemberI wouldn't say I consciously devoted any specific time right before the test to either side. I did blaw/ethics studying first – and worked my way through all else and did corporate last. I practice tested a couple times and then focused in on the weak areas/topics.
I hammered the subjects I wasn't scoring high in until I could consistently get good scores.

MemberKellyP I did tackle the basis monster but I did not do a chart – I think someone else was talking about charting it out.
I just went back through with each type of situation and re-wrote them and then selected categories in the test bank and did study mode – and searched for mcq and sims that related to the various basis scenarios to reinforce them.
