I submitted my license packet at 9:00 this morning and the following was waiting in my e-mail when I returned from lunch.

Your Initial CPA License – Washington application has been approved. Your Washington license number is 32433.

You should expect to receive, in the mail, your initial license packet. Your license status will be posted on our website’s Licensee Search within the next 24 hours.

So 1 year in to take and retake the CPA exam

1 day to take the WA ethics and AICPA ethics course

    4 hours to get licensed

    Feeling a little anticlimactic

Congrats OP! Yeah, the licensure process is a bit anticlimactic compared to receiving your passing scores.

Consider yourself lucky… entire turnaround time for my licensure process in Ohio was 72 days, spanning date of application submission (12/9/13) to issuance of permit # (2/18/14).

I am happy to report that it looks like it is not that quick (or maybe I am not that lucky). It has been 25 hours already and I have not heard anything.

Yeah.. I asked my colleagues and it took them about a week or two. Two of them submitted the info on the same day, but got approved a few days apart as well. I think the OP was just lucky.

I agree, so quick! I submitted all my paperwork Friday night (after close of business) 9/9 (the day I found out I passed my last test) and I got my license # and approval on Monday. Now just waiting for my name to appear in the database! I'm so glad WA is quick!!

Congrat's! That must be an awesome feeling. I found out I passed my last section on Friday and I'm still waiting to hear from the Louisiana state board. I don't even have the you-passed-REG email from NASBA yet. Oh well, I'm almost 10 months into this journey…I can wait a few more days.

How much do the WA ethics and AICPA ethics courses cost? How much is the licensure fee?

I'm pretty sure my state (NY) won't accept my experience since the CPA I was working under is licensed in a different state. There was a thread on here about how some guy in NY couldn't get licensed because of this and others chimed in with the same problem. I sent the board an email today just to confirm. I don't plan on doing auditing so it really doesn't matter where I'm licensed. Not even sure if I want to stay in NY or not. After this nasty summer, WA state doesn't sound so bad….my dad actually grew up there and we lived there for a couple years.
