I recently got my CPA License from Illinois, but all they provide is a pretty ugly certificate you can print out, that has colours bleeding, a barcode, and an expiry date. I was hoping to get a real certificate saying that I’m a CPA, that I could frame and mount. Do you know if there is any other option? I’ve tried with ILBOA and IDFPR and both say there is nothing they can provide other than that ugly paper I can print myself.

In person it looks like it costs way more than $30.

When I was looking for an EA frame I had it narrowed down to that one, or these 2.
I wanted something matted and dimensional.

Was very happy I went with the “expensive one”.

Anyone know if NJ eventually sends out a more traditional certificate? I got the small, blue “certificate” that's really just the license with my name, license number, etc. It's been a few months now so safe to assume that's it but curious as to what others from NJ have done?

@Recked I am finally looking into frames after accepting the certificate, and realized that the document is only 8 x 10. Apparently that is really going to narrow my frame options.

The frame I posted is matted down to 8.5×11.
Remember matting can be trimmed to fit using a ruler and exacto knife.
Just watch your fingers.

You can also order any frame for a 8.5×11 and new matting that you cut to fit.

The NYS cert is just 8.5×11.

Alternatively, you can just back lay a piece of card stock or neutral colored paper to fill the gap between your cert and the matted area of the frame.

200% positive.
I measured it with a ruler, and it is now framed with my BA and EA that were also 8.5×11.
Normal printer paper size.

I was at the eye doctor this morning.
He had 3 certs hanging in the exam room from 1979.
PA, NJ and NY.
NJ wins hands down. All calligrapher'ed and fancy. On par with the AZ CPA cert, but with 8 -10 signatures on the bottom.
NY is still the same old drab looking crap for the last 40 years.

So my Illinois certificate was exactly the same as Jen. The license is even more hideous. I finally goty AICPA certificate, and while not as nice asy Canadian designations, it's way better than Illinois. I'm going to frame the aicpa one instead. The only annoying thing is you need to register with aicpa first to get it. I don't remember but I think that may have cost $200…

I have been in love with the way a client had her certificates displayed and plan to do mine the same when I finally finish this exam! I can't find the picture right now, but she had a larger CPA certificate framed and it was in the center. Then on the left and right sides of that, her college diploma and AICPA certificate were the same size, but smaller than the CPA certificate. Of course she had elegant frames that really made it pop. It looked amazing!!
