I saw a thread like this for past years, so I’m starting one for 2018.

Here’s where I’m at so far:

2/26/18 — mailed in full application, with all requirements completed

    3/19/18 — $250 application fee check cashed

Now waiting for some type of word from the CBA.

Gotta say — the CBA is SUPER frustrating to deal with.

Anyone else going through the the same waiting game??

@adtejeda – Ok I know – I know $120 is the initial license fee, have been ready to write the check. At the bottom of my letter, it had a piece to detach where I filled in my address and phone. I copied pasted what it said about fees here:

“Initial license fee if postmarked on or before 11/30/2018 $60.00
Initial license fee if postmarked after 11/30/2018 $120.00”

Ok, I don't want to keep saying woe is me, but I have yet to find anyone with the same or longer processing time as me. I wonder if they felt bad and gave me a discount? It took them from Jan to June (all docs in their hands in Jan) to approve my app. Very curious to see if others see this on their approval letter.

You guys, omg, I almost forgot the best part. So I said I was emailed my approval letter (hopefully it's not a cruel phishing scam ha) – at the bottom of the email was this: “We want to hear from you. Please take a moment to complete the CBA Stakeholder Feedback survey”

I just made myself a cup of tea and am curled up under the blankets ready for this survey.

*Update – the survey is a joke.

@CPA788 It was a very similar timeframe for me. Not sure when in Jan you turned yours in. Mine was received by them in the first week of Feb and they had all the other docs before that.

I also only had to pay $60 if postmarked this year. Mailed my check on Thurs, watching my bank account like a hawk though I'm not really expecting it to be official before end of July given the timeframe the application review process took. What a relief to be at this stage, though.

@CPA788 is your birthday in November of an even year? My birthday is November so I assumed the reason for the $60 Fee is that my license will require renewal this year.
My timeline is submitted all documents but experience hours Mid October.
Work submitted experience hours on February 28th.
Received pre-approval letter by email on June 5th.
$60 check delivered on June 7th.
    Check Cleared on June 21st.
Now just waiting a few more weeks for my name to appear on the website.
Then a few more weeks to receive the paper license in the mail.

Is the $120 fee in addition to the $250 fee?

Hm, the birthday does make sense. My birth year is odd so does that the reason for the difference? Oh well. Either way, just can't wait to finally get the license number.

    @MaLoTu
    – yes, the $120 license fee is in addition to the $250 application fee.

GoBears123 – Were you able to get your supervisor's active information signed off by the Illinois state board? I have had no luck with DC. They say they don't have active/inactive information going a few years back…

For that matter, has anyone had any luck with any states filling out the CBA form letter asking whether your supervisor was inactive or active for a specific time period?!?

@Choco — not yet. At least they have cashed my $20 check for the license verification fee and confirmed they have my request in their system. The tricky part is they are really nervous to tell me anything and keep asking that my supervisor contracts them directly.

So, here is my updated timeline:

2/26/18 — mailed in full application, with all requirements completed

    3/19/18 — $250 application fee check cashed

4/7/18 — received postcard from CBA (postmarked 4/3/18) acknowledging they received my application

5/11/18 — received letter from CBA saying I need to work with the Illinois accounting board on verifying the license of the person signing off on my experience requirement

5/16/18 — mailed request to Illinois board for verification. Their estimate is 4 weeks. (CBA says once they get this they’ll need another 8-10 weeks for “final review”)

6/25/18 – Illinois board cashed my $20 check. Called them to check on processing. They said processing now takes 4 weeks

6/27/18 – received letter from CBA saying my application will be put on hold in 60 days if they don't get the verification

OMG this is the absolute worst….

Just spoke with the Licensing Board and I am officially a CPA as of July 2nd.
I'm still not on the website and they said my wall certificate would probably be mailed out at the end of next week, but all I care about is that I am licensed.

looks like the CBA is finally catching up on their processing times. I mailed my application in on 6/18 and the $250 check cleared on 6/28.
