Studying sucks- hahahaha. I agree! The wiley books is over 1000 pages, that is about 800 pages too many!

why would you leave with 40 mins to spare and leave simulations blank? I guess its true these exams don't reflect actually IQ…..

Yay, Anna! You must have done really well on those MCQs.

Here I am studying FAR and bonds. There is seriously nothing more horrible.

People who are getting their passing FAR scores: be so happy you will never have to study that much ever again. Congrats!

Uncalled for. Your demeanor, spelling, and grammar reflects yours.

    Thanks, guys!:-D

and about sims – they were calculations on complicated topics – it would be silly to put some random numbers in:) plus I was so sure I failed anyway…

Good luck for everyone who is about to take Fare – I guess it's manageable… I never got more than b+ in my financial accounting courses:)))

Somehow I don't think I'm violating the non-disclosure pledge to say that you'd better be comfortable with governmental and NFP accounting.

I can see it being very difficult to pass FAR if you are weak in this area. I think having worked in not for profit accounting for the past 8 years was huge for me on this exam.

I, thank my college and professors, knew governmental well. Non-profit questions were confusing – study it well. I was weak with cash flows and inventory…

I took FAR Nov. 4th. I don't know what happened – why I passed… I seriously wasn't ready for the exam… I only loosely studied for it for 3 weeks, barely finished lectures and Becker homework, and just listened to Becker final review. (I had some personal issues – couldn't concentrate on studying). Oh, but I did do half of Yaeger lectures as well.

So I just went into exam already knowing that i am retaking it in January – Just went to see what it's like.

And passed. Yes, sims – filled only memos and research. The rest was so difficult – I was like: Yeah, whatever…

Frankly, I think they curve them big time – no matter what they say – that's the only explanation. Or I was just lucky with guessing third testlet… it was ridiculous.

Remember – simulations are only 30 points and only 1 memo is 10 of those 30!!! So memos are extremely important.

Non-profit and governmental scare me to death. I have never had a course – know nothing except what I will learn with Becker. I hear some people say they get maybe 7 questions and others say it's about 20% of the exam. I will study it like it is 20%, just hope Becker has what I need.

I wish I were done like you!!!!

Anna, congrats on passing! I took the exam on Nov. 13th, the exam was so hard that I believe I failed, but now you give me hope………Thanks…

CPAWannaBe …. My exam surely did not have 20% for Govt&NFP, more like 7%…and they were easy questions….I studied Govt and NFP super hard….what a waste of time……I plan to sit for the exam in January, unless I passed? but I'm not even going to bother with Govt&NFP…

Tips on studying for FAR needed. Failed for the 2nd time. First time 71 in May, 2nd Time 64 In October. Did all the lectures in May, but did not redo lectures in October. Did all the M/C once and read the entire book twice, but no supplemental or final exams. October filled with OT at work and both September 15th & October 15th deadline. So maybe not as dedicated as I should have been. Want to take before tax season starts again. Using Becker review materials. Can I take the 1st week of January if I'm completely dedicated?

CPAWannaBe – the governmental and non-profit on your exam might be different but my exam on Nov. 5th (passed w/84) and for sure it was close to 20%.

BTW: I used Becker and Wiley review materials …. I believe Becker coverage on the governmental and non-profit is excellent but not on PV/TVM topics.
