That is a great place to get experience. And you have options, you can stay or if you want to move on down the road you can go into Defense firms or consulting for CPA with Defense firms as clients to name two options.

Mobile or stationed at one large defense firm?

AnonymousInactiveThey recently got a new Director who is really turning the place around (for the better from what I heard). He's a great guy and really cares about his employees. I highly recommend getting a chance to work for him. Although I'm sure you wouldn't see him too often. I had a chance to work under him for almost 3 years. He took time out of his day to come have lunch with the staff (at least once or twice a year) to hear our input and concerns which showed he really cared.

AnonymousInactiveThanks for the great news Journey and couldpassagain,
I am stationed at one large defense firm in Chicago. I am excited. I read where there had been some recent issues in the past thus the need for the new director. Hopefully, he is able to restore the agency's reputation. Nonetheless, I finally caught a break.

AnonymousInactiveYeah he was The Auditor General for the Army Audit Agency before becoming the Director for DCAA. I think he worked at the Agency for over 20-some years.

AnonymousInactiveBurning the midnight oil tonight. Chapters 6-7 finished today. I have 8-9 planned for tomorrow/today. I am concerned how this late night studying will affect me come Thursday morning at 8 am when I take this test.
Hey Magic, I think the opening is still on usajobs.gov. If you are serious about it.

They came out with a study that said people retain more information if they study before sleep vs morning. Not sure I agree. Hopefully you will get some sleep Wed night. Good Luck!

AnonymousInactiveOk Fellow CPA Exam Sufferers!
I took FAR on Saturday and it went pretty much as I expected. This is the first time I would say that the Becker Final Exams might have actually been easier than the real exam! I made in the 80s on all of the MC questions on both exams except one, which I made in the 70s. The actual exam seemed to have less questions that I am super positive about. The first testlet was fairly easy, the second was impossibly hard, and the third one calmed down a bit but was still harder than the first. This is how my tests normally go so I was fine with that. Then I got the most impossible simulation I have ever seen. It had topics not even covered in Becker. I think I found the research question and feel fairly good about the communication. The other tabs are up in the air. I have a VERY strong feeling that this is the tester simulation because of the topics that were on it. The second simulation was definitely more my style lol. I knew all the tabs fairly well and felt really good about the communication as well as the research. Overall I feel very good about it as long as the second simulation was the one graded. Also I didn't struggle with time, I never had but I was very worried I would because of other posts but it wasn't a problem for me. I am VERY quick with MC, I am one of those people who thinks I either know a question or I dont so I try not to waste time on questions I dont know. I would hate to sit on questions I do not know and then run out of time to answer questions I do know. I had 24 minutes left at the end. I really hope I passed because then I would be done! I hope studying is going well for everyone! The end is in sight! Finish strong! Good luck!!

GSPACPAParticipantI'm so frustrated over waiting on these scores. Especially since this is the last test I need to pass in order to get my CPA. What could this two day delay possible be? Please don't let my score get bumped to wave 2, I only have a two more months until my first exam credit expires and the testing formats change. If I get my score in wave 1, I could potentially take the FARE exam again in August. AICPA, you need to step up your game!

italianCPAParticipantGSPACPA,
You cannot take FAR again in August. You would have to wait till October anyways.

whonis2002ParticipantBeckerAllTheWay Congs on finally finishing with the beast. Am using the becker material and you scared me when you said that the exam seemed to have less questions that you where super positive about. Hopefully when I sit mine on 8/31 I will be able to see topics I have studied from the becker material. Am glad that your done with your share of this CPA quagmire. Hopefully I can beat the 75% mark when I take FAR on 8/31. I have never been this shaky in my life but this exam is surely scaring the crap out me. Enough talk any last minute advise for a struggling patriot like me? Just about to finish chapter 7 including all MCQ's

stuuuudy_hardParticipantFAR was my first exam and I thought that the becker material was pretty spot on – some of the questions were even the same. I got thrown for a loop on a really hard simulation though that wasn't in becker. You have to hope in those situations that everyone else that is studying does poorly on it too right?! 🙂 My FAR definitely had some tricky MC questions but that has to be expected. Keep on the becker path and you should be prepared enough. Know the formulas for everything and pray that those questions end up on your exam!!! GOOD LUCK!
FAR 7/10 - 96
BEC 8/10 - 92
AUD 11/15 - 99
REG 11/22 - 97 (7 days craming!) -
