My last exam, which was FAR in July, the testing center had this annoying as all f*cking hell buzz coming from the florescent lights. It really messed me up. I tried wearing the headphones but those just make me feel as if I am in a wind tunnel. I was so extremely angry w/ the buzzing sound and just the fact that something like that should be fixed ASAP in a testing center like that. I told the employee's about it after the test and all they said was “Did you try the headphones?” After taking the FAR exam, and having that buzzing sound the entire time, and then the lady asking me if I tried the headphones – I seriously wanted to strangle her! Throughout the entire exam I would go back and forth w/ the headphones, and every once in awhile I would just lean back from the screen and clench my fists and be angry because of that buzzing. Next time I am definitely taking ear plugs.

    @financeguy

Maybe test center personnel should rotate every five years 🙂

financeguy – i am in MA and the testing center i go to provides earplugs if you ask them. i think on your NTS you can't bring outside earplugs, but your testing center should provide them.

i hear you though about annoying noises. when i took AUD in oct 2009, i didn't realize the testing center gave out earplugs and those headphones are WAY too big and annoying so i suffered through part of the exam because i could hear the employees talking and checking people in. it is a clear window so i can see what is going on out there if i leaned back and looked.

now i shove earplugs in my ears for the entire exam. you can also hear people typing around you, which is equally as annoying. at least with BEC there is no typing because the people around you are probably thinking the same thing haha.

connie – i am doing the same thing as you!! hahaha. i wear the same “good luck” outfit. comfy pants, sneakers, tank top and the light fleece (my firm gave them to all the employees). it is very comfy.

funny story a few months ago i was taking BEC and a coworker of mine was taking REG took our exams on the same day and we both wore our firm fleeces and the lady said to me “oh your friend is already in there, make sure you don't talk to him!” in my head i was like no sh!t lady…we aren't even taking the same exam!!” haha

CPABoston – how is it going?!

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!

I didn't realize you could get earplugs because those headphones are uncomfortable. I took my first exam (FAR) in a testing center without the a/c working at the beginning of this month in Massachusetts. Apparently it hadn't been working for 2 days and it was warmer in there than outside where it was about 95 degrees out. I think some of these testing places need to be upgraded…..

    FAR 7/2 - 88
    BEC 7/30 - 87
    AUD 8/27 - 80
    REG 11/12 - 96

Hreat story! No talking! Like you would waste precious time helping someone on their test when the clock is ticking! As soon as we walk through those doors we try to block everything and everyone!

New here… I took FAR yesterday… Any clue as to when the 2nd wave will come out? I

I've read some of the posts here and I'm opposite of what everybody has been saying in my test experience. I thought the MC were very tough, while the simulation/written communication was actually kind of easy. Due to my difficulty with the MC questions, I took a little longer on those. I finished up my simulations but didn't have enough time to go back and check my numbers. If I didn't just make a careless mistake, I thought I did pretty well on the simulations.

Thanks… I'm not sure about a great experience though. I was very uncertain about the MC questions. I completely guessed on 4-5 and was uncertain about a lot of them. Although I felt like I knew the simulation/written communications, I felt very rushed. I walked out of there feeling like I had bombed it. Who knows. We'll see in a month or so.

    jrsmith416-

What materials did you use for FAR? How long did you take for the mcq's?

    Good luck!

I used Becker. It was advised that you spend 50-55 minutes on each MC teslet. I spent an hour on each, which is not too far over the recommended time, but when you add it up that's 15 less minutes that I had altogether for the simulations. I spent 30 minutes on each sim. I guess I was just tested in my weaker areas on MC and stronger areas on sims.

Michelle – I am in New Bedford, but test in Warwick, RI because it is about 40 minutes to get to. It is actually right near the TF Green Airport! I don't wanna add any more stress by having to drive to a testing center in Boston. lol

    AUD - 84; REG - 90; BEC - 79; FAR - 75; ALL DONE!!
