Inactive@BigShot – what's the Indiana trick? I saw people refer to this last night and didn't know what it meant.

InactiveHmm, just tried Indiana – “Error: score not found” … I'm going to have nightmares about continuously refreshing and getting error messages. I know it.

InactiveYou can check your score by just entering your section ID (from NTS) and DOB. I don't know whats the deal w it but it won't hurt to try.

InactiveWell at least they have your score. NASBA won't give it to you over the phone?

Inactive@Big – no. She was very adament that she can't do that. And it was the NY coordinator who refused. So I feel like if she won't, no one will. Blech. Still an error on Indiana.

InactiveAnyone else in IL still waiting for their scores!?! I feel like I'm the only one left 🙁

ParticipantGot my exam score last night. I waited until I finished taking audit to see it, just incase i didn't pass and get discouraged. Long behold, I didn't pass 🙁 I started Becker in January 2010, and I have yet to pass any of the exams. I work full-time, sometimes more during tax season. And having a boyfriend is a full-time job as well. Any advice on how any of you studied for FAR? And how not to feel like you want to give up? This seems never ending…

Participantcpaguy – I'm in the same boat. Took FAR 7/24 in IL, and still no score. I'm assuming I am getting pushed to wave 2 b/c I had a new simulation. It sucks, but I'm taking REG 8/31 so I won't be getting that score until end of September anyway.

Inactive@ why me, Yea, I'm taking REG on the 31st as well. It's so hard to concentrate while I'm waiting for my score!

ParticipantI am excited some scores were released, but I am in WV and we cannot get anything electronic, so it will be at least another week, if not more, before I will find out anything. I'm waiting on my Financial scores which I took on July 21 and also took Audit yesterday. If I don't get these two, I lose BEC. I'm just hoping I know something before it would be too late to schedule in the Oct/Nov window, and it is so difficult for me to study on weekends during football season!

Participant@ cpaguy – agree, I would be much more motivated to study knowing I had passed. On the other hand, a borderline fail would prolly hurt my chances at passing the REG exam.

ParticipantNo_life, I failed a few sections as you can see from my signature. I think what will help you is try to concentrate on only two sections at a time. This way when you are waiting for your score release you can be studying for your next section. Your scores aren't that bad. You definitely have a pretty good feel for the material you just need to put in more time. Everyday I would try to put in an hour or two. Also make it productive. Have as little distractions around you as possible. Go to the library if you have to, anything so that you can have productive studying time. I also found by studying only two sections at a time, you retain more so you aren't starting fresh everytime you come back to that section. This allows you to skim over the sections you know really well and concentrate on the areas you need help on. I always felt as long as my scores kept going up I would eventually pass and I did. I would ask your boyfriend to give you a little more space because the CPA exam requires a lot of your time. Also by giving you more alone time now, he will have more time with you later after you have passed.

Participantno_life – I am using Becker too and here is how I studied for FAR: I took the live classes Mon/Wed nights. I also got the Wiley audio CPA review for FAR and listened to that in the morning for my 1/2 hour commute It helped reinforce things that I had already studied. At lunch I reviewed flashcards. Then after work I would either go to class or study 3-4 hours. Weekends I usually devoted the days to studying. I would take Friday and Saturday nights off.
I think for me it was really important to get quality studying in (not just the hours but the interrupted time). Studying at home for me was not an option – I would too easily get distracted or feel like I needed to pay attention to my husband, clean the house, whatever… so I either go to the library or a quiet coffee place.
If I had to do FAR again, I would use Becker and do the homework questions over and over again.
You made a really big improvement on your first FAR score…. don't give up… !
BEC - 5/24 - 83
FAR - 7/17 - 88
AUD - 8/22 - 89

ParticipantI agree with OH – CPA Hopeful, stick with it No_Life. We are all in this together! I am new to posting, but have been reading the post for over a year and they have really helped me throught some rough times. I have passed 3 exams and can't seem to pass FAR. Now they tell me I'm in wave 2 and if I find out I didnt pass this time I lose Audit. To top it off I will have to get another NTS and try and schedule FAR and AUD in October before I lose BEC October 31st! And I live in WI!
You guys on here are really great!

Participant@no-life—I also used Becker and know that going through all of those lecture DVD's and homework, and practice questions can make you feel overwhelmed. The biggest issue I had was knowing when I had studied enough and when I hadn't, because going through a bunch of lectures doesn't really prepare you for the exam. Here is what I did: after I while, I used the lectures as highlights to my studying, only when I didn't understand certain subjects or when I wanted to really polish up on a section did I watch the lectures. 75% of my time was spent doing MC questions….day in and day out, every open moment I had, whether it be while watching tv, or in my study, or early on a Saturday morning, questions questions questions. The key when working through the questions is to ALWAYS read the explanation as to why the answer you chose IS the correct answer, or why it wasn't….you may even benefit from reading the explanation to the other answers you didn't choose. I found that doing this, I was picking up on the concepts AS I was working through the questions. So even if I would get crappy % scores on my MC study sets, I was CONSTANTLY picking new things up. And FYI, I started using the Gleim test bank for my MC questions, for some reason I just felt better with them. I too work full time at a CPA firm and full full full time during tax season, and I do understand how tough it is to work on this while you have an already full life on a day to day basis. heck, I even managed to get married last year, all while preparing and taking these exams. It can be done, it just requires finding your study zone and sticking to it. Deep down you know if you are getting the material or not, just structure your studying around practices that you find helpful and stick to it.
Hope any of this helps! Best of luck.
