SO I know every test is different but does anyone have any insight on what has been heavily tested recently? I take the exam Monday and I need to narrow my focus….Thanks!

@gstern. I've taken all parts at least once (with the exception of REG). I used Becker the first time around, then Wiley, then Ninja. I took AUD using Becker and failed with a 72..I believe. Then added Ninja MCQs and passed with an 86. Passed BEC on first try with Ninja MCQ alone and reading over Becker outlines. Waiting to hear about my FAR re-take, but plan on using Becker outlines for REG and Ninja MCQ/notes. I think Becker questions can be overly complicated, then when candidates get to the exam they think the questions are too easy and overthink it…atleast that has been my experience. Best of luck to you. Enjoy those cocktails!

Okay another71 community, I have a question. So my NTS for FAR is going to expire at the end of the month and I'm scheduled to take the exam on Saturday. However, I've been very busy lately transitioning into my new job and haven't had time to study. I realistically know I'm not going to pass – I havent even watched all the lectures, and I only have 20% of the M/C questions done and 0 simulations completed. I am fully okay with studying over the month of december when work will be light and take the exam in January.

Is it even worth going to take the exam on saturday? or should i just skip it and let the NTS expire? (and lose the cost of applying)

@metsj31 I personally would go to the exam, it's good practice + you'll see how everything set up which will manage your expectations for the actual exam. One of my issues was during the simulation part, the screen was so small relatively to what I was studying with, so when I started doing the simulations during the actual exam and realized how much time I am waisting on scrolling up and down and switching tabs, etc. I panicked which effected my performance.

Hi Guys, Hope you can help. Just came across the following question and I am not sure what is the logic/reason for using the liquidation value, anyone can clarify? maybe that will help me remember for next time

Baker, Inc. reported the following stockholders' equity balances:

8% cumulative preferred stock, par value $100 per share; 10,000 shares issued and outstanding (liquidation value $107) $ 1,000,000

Common stock, par value $10 per share, 50,000 shares issued and outstanding 500,000

    Additional paid-in capital 75,000

    Retained earnings 450,000

Dividends are in arrears on the preferred stock for three years including the current year. What is book value per share of common stock?

@determined you can do better than me. you still have few more days. watch out for the dates on bonds, they're tricky. remember the DIE (discount in effective = its a discount when effective rate is higher than stated rate). sims have plenty required entries. remember last time I asked you about a foreign topic? that came out in simulation. practice that topic at least the concepts and you'll be fine on their related amount.

    Hi all,

Really need your help. Came across another question to which i don't understand how they got to the answer.

The following information pertains to Smoke, Inc.'s investment in marketable equity securities:

On December 31, Year 2, Smoke reclassified a security with a $70,000 cost and a $50,000 fair value from trading to available-for-sale.

An available-for-sale marketable equity security costing $75,000, written down to $30,000 in Year 1, had a $60,000 fair value on December 31, Year 2. Smoke believes the recovery is permanent.

What is the net effect of the above items on Smoke's valuation allowance for available-for-sale marketable equity securities as of December 31, Year 2?

The answer is $30,000 decrease. My question is why it's a decrease and not an increase of $30,000 ?

It's official. I'm in full panic mode about the FAR exam I took this past Saturday and completely unsure of how I did. I get so anxious…the gray hair will come out soon

    AUD - July 2014 - 76
    REG - August 2014 - 82
    FAR - November 2014 - 78
    BEC - January 2015 - 81

    DONE!!!!

Used Becker online. Who needs a text when you can burn your eyes out staring at the screen for months on end?

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you're hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done!"

Am I the only one who didn't use every second? I hope that doesn't mean I rushed. I finished with around an hour left, only because I felt like I did as much with the sims as I could have. Nothing was left blank,
