My exam is on Aug 9th, and I have 0 confidence. My Gleim score is 61% now, but I just started my final review and hope to remember some of that stuff I already forgot. IFRS and Gov. terrifies me

@anjanja I feel your pain. My test is also Aug 9th but my problem is that the more I study sometimes the more confused I get 🙂

anjanja, gleim questions are harder than Becker questions and Wiley MC. I get between 80 to 85 on Becker and Wiley but about 60 on Gleim. This is my third time taking FAR. I got a 71 on 5/31. How are you doing with Gleim's simulations?

Alright, taking 2 hours off to watch GERMANY WIN! So much anxiety, I can't even begin to explain how good next Sunday will feel when World Cup and my exam are both over.

    Hi Gian,

“You are correct if they were asking for cash outflow for interest, but they are not asking for that, they want to know interest expense. “

Thanks for clarifying that. Good to know the calculation (+/-) for interest expense has the opposite effect of cash flow for interest.

I haven't tried a lot of Gleim SIMs yet, just some on Cash flows. I did some of Wiley ones and I most of the time I know the answers but the format is kind of confusing.

    Also, Go Germany!

Cabot Township's Water and Sewer Fund had $40,000 in operating income and a total change in net position of 150,000. The Water and Sewer Fund also had the following transactions either derived from a comparison of current and prior year Statements of Net Position or displayed on the current year Statement of Activities:

Increase in current assets other than cash

    $ 30,000

Increase in current liabilities including the $15,000 current portion of revolving debt

    50,000

    Depreciation expense

    70,000

Gain on disposal of fixed assets

    2,000

Cash flows from operating activities would reconcile to what amount?

My question: Why do you add back current liabilities to the operating activities?

For those who are using Becker and have the exam coming up, are you guys putting less emphasis in F10 during your review? I feel like I will waste valuable time going over minute detail that F10 seems to have a lot of. Not a whole lot of big picture stuff. Thinking about only reviewing IFRS vs. GAAP section.

    Anyone has thoughts on this?

    Thanks!

    cpastudent22,

that's how indirect method works, increase in liability is added. I thought that direct method was required for proprietary funds.

    What's the answer?

    Also doing SCF.

So, from the MCQ I am doing:

    Indirect: Accrual to Cash

    – Increase CA + Decrease CA + Increase CL – Decrease CL

    Direct: Cash to Accrual

+ Increase CA – Decrease CA – Increase CL + Decrease CL

This is probably the most confusing topic I have done. There are no review notes that can ever just simplify this. It's always so confusingly worded.

I was not gonna take the Becker final but decided to just do the MCQs. Not sure how the score will correlate to actual exam…

got a 74 overall in 3 MCQ testlets. Exam is tomorrow and am very nervous!!!
