    Hows everyone doing?

Got a question regarding NTS. So I am in NY. Currently taking my 120th credit. I will finish that class on the 3rd of July. So I may not be able to send my official transcript in to the 7th. My main question is, how do you get your NTS? Is it the day they approve you via email? or do they send something back in the mail? I am probably going to have to overnight the transcripts but do you think I will get my NTS in time before time runs out for the 3rd quarter? I already sent the transcripts in May but I knew I was going to get denied, I sent them in just so they have my name on file and the guy i spoke with said they would approve once they received the transcript with 120 credits.

    @tootsie,

I feel like my studying is going slow. I am still scoring low on the mcq's ( probably trying too hard). I am trying to make myself not bounce around but nail down sections. getting started a little late, but will be at it all day.

    It begins with a 75

@tncincy – I feel the same way. When are you scheduled to take it? And how are you preparing for the SIMS. Are you just trying to go through as many MCQ?

I am scheduled for 7/7. I have not really studied sims but I will. I am trying to do as many mcq's as possible. I did a few sims on bonds (amortization table) but none from any sections. I am working on consolidations now.

    My plan—

    1. Rewrite a page of my personal notes

    2. NINJA MCQ – 10 problems

    3. NINJA SIM – 1

    4. Rewrite a page of my personal notes

    5. BECKER MCQ -10 problems (corresponding to the written notes)

    6. BECKER SIM – 1 (corresponding to the written notes)

Repeat till I am through all my personal notes I should be done with this on Wednesday.

Take a practice final exam on Thursday 6/26 (Decide if I am ready to take the exam on the 3rd)

Final WEEK: Go through and take as many PT as needed to understand all topics. Rewrite notes on any of my not so great topics until I am confident in all areas.

Starting to feel REAL nervous abou this exam. About 3 weeks away and not all the way through the material. Hopefully get through all the Becker lectures and HW by Tuesday. But….been averaging 50% or so going through the MCQ the first time around. I think I need a minimum of three weeks for review to really hammer the concepts and signficantly bump up my avg or I stand no chance. Thinking of possibly pushing back a week to give myself 4 weeks of review.

@jstay. I don't know about NY but for Florida I started my application with the state board on May 2nd and by May 19th I had my NTS from NASBA by email and was able to sit before the end of Q2. You should get your NTS well before the end of Q3 sometime near the end of July (if you apply speedily). The problem you might face is there may not be any availability at Prometric centers. When I applied 10 days before I took the exam I only found a couple times at centers that weren't over 100 miles away.

Can anyone give me an idea of why this answer is correct in Becker (F8 – modified accrual)?

Question: The revenues control account of a governmental unit is increased when:

    Answer: Property taxes are recorded

Becker explanation is the following journal entry for the recording of a property tax levy….

Dr. – Property taxes receivable XXX

Cr. – Allowance for uncollectible property taxes XXX

    Cr. – Revenues XXX

Obviously I don't see the revenues control account used here, so can anyone tell me why that is the correct answer? I would really appreciate it.

@Tarheelgirl. I have just done a few. I feel like they may easier than the exam. I plan on going through my intermediate book during the last week of review to look at some examples or worksheets. A lot of people say know the journal entries for sims. For my fist test that was not the case. I just want to make sure I am well rounded in all topics. You never know what you will get.

@thechapman The revenue control account is the same as the revenue account. I found that Becker uses them interchangeably, along with expenditures and expenditure control. Just don't get that confused with the budgetary entry, which uses Estimated Revenues and Appropriations.

    FAR - 93 - 7/1/14
    AUD - 94 - 7/25/14

@jennibfox – thanks. Knowing J/E was the case in my first exam and of course they were on all topics that I had struggled on. I have made flash cards for all J/E I encounter including common calculations I come across.
