@big bob How long does it take you to do MCQs on average? Are you rushing trying to finish them or are you taking your time?

If you are rushing I advise to stop. Take your time early on with MCQs and really think the questions through. Practice will help cement the knowledge and speed will come from that.

40-50 is what I was getting on my first run through the Becker materials. Its def discouraging but keep in mind its the first run. I am on my review now and my scores have gone up. They are still not where I would want them to be but they r def better than 40%..

Like EYNewhire said, take your time to understand the material. The review period def helps with everything though. You will see that you will pick up new info every time you go over the material and it will only help solidify the concept..

Gosh, FAR is a such a huge undertaking….If only they could split it up in two exams..

So far I like Becker, but I hate Gearty. If he says again one more time I … will keep watching 🙁 But seriously Olinto is a much better instructor. I wish he did all the videos.

Gearty didn't annoy me that much for FAR, but in between FAR and AUD I found this forum and read up on his mannerisms. I guess I lost my innocence. I can't go back to how it used to be.

Brace yourself for AUD. There's no Brolinto there.

    FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
    AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
    BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
    REG: August 29th, 2014 - 88

Yeah Gearty can be very annoying. I would be fine with his “again” only if he did a better job at explaining stuff. He merely reads off his beautifully written text!!

For Audit, I enjoyed Micheal Brown's A4 lecture. Although he is kinda slow but he is so much better than Gearty and I am so glad he taught A4 with all the confusing transaction cycles..He made it somewhat bearable.

    Hi Guys,

I'm stressing out!! Exam is on July 2nd. Still haven't finished working on MCQ for all of the chapters.

What are the most frequently tested area in the FAR exam? I might need to just focus on them at the end since I feel like I really am running out of time.

It really depends on the luck of the draw as far as what will be heavily tested on the exam that you get, but if I were you I would focus on IFRS, Government, NFP, JEs, and calculations.

Agree with @mamabear. Those are going to be heavily tested pretty more for sure. My test didnt follow the guidelines that they lay out at the beginning of the study book…it was very heavily concentrated in specific areas and didnt even touch on others. However, my sims were really easy.

I'm a visual learner, can anyone show me the JE for this question?

East Co. issued 1,000 shares of its $5 par common stock to Howe as compensation for 1,000 hours of legal services performed. Howe usually bills $160 per hour for legal services. On the date of issuance, the stock was trading on a public exchange at $140 per share. By what amount should the additional paid-in capital account increase as a result of this transaction?

    A) $160,000

    B) $155,000

    C) $140,000

    D) $135,000
