What is this study group all about? This is my first time in here. Taking FAR July 1, one day before my bachelor party.

Hey all – FAR is my last test. I have struggled with and and the past several times i have taken it i am usually around the 70 mark. I have to pass this time or i lose my BEC score. FAR just gets overwhelming at times with all of the information. But just going to take it a section at a time and shoot for a 75 in August. Lets do this!!

Tarheelgirl, I have Becker and I think the questions from Ninja are a bit easier than Beckers, but I love the explanations and format. Im working with both test banks.

BStewie1987, you post questions and then we all give an answer. The harder the questions, I guess the better for everyone specially if we all come back with different answers.

    FAR-84
    AUD-
    REG-
    BEC-

I'd like to be somewhat active for this study group, if possible. It's hard to stay motivated….Is there something else people do other than ask questions about their review materials? Just curious.

I passed REG and AUD so I'm hoping to crush out BEC/FAR next month.

I am in a review course where I attend a class to watch video lectures on topics every day and then go off and study on my own for a few hours

Biggest thing I've noticed is how much longer the MCQ take for FAR 🙁 🙁

I'm just now thinking maybe I should take FAR before BEC….? Any opinions?

I will be through video lectures for FAR by June 20, then I will go back to BEC to review for about 10 days (already watched videos and did about half the MCQ).

Do you guys think it is feasible to have 10 days to go back and review BEC, then take test, then do 2 weeks of FAR review?

I guess my concern is that after 10 days BEC and a test, FAR will get pushed out of my head…..I was hoping it would slosh around and settle in for a while so and 2 weeks would be enough to reorganize, finish up MCQ, and review everything…

I think when planned it out I wanted the most # of days to review between my review course and the FAR test as possible , and it was either 12 days (with a wedding and a visiting girlfriend) then FAR or BEC, and then 14 days for the next.

    REG - 92
    AUD - 90
    BEC - 82
    FAR - 82

Is anyone else bombing MCQs? I don't know what my problem is! But I think I am getting frustrated with myself and I freeze and I keep getting around 40% of batches of MCQs that are correct, I am starting to freak out a little/a lot

    FAR: 79
    AUD: 81
    REG:5/29/15
    BEC:85

Using CPA Excel, NINJA notes and audio, NINJA MCQs

I just bought Ninja Audio for FAR. I am doing the live class with Becker for FAR as well. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to leverage the audio to help my studying?

@Gian – I thought about getting NINJA MCQ but I had purchased the WTB and just now using it to get different questions, but I'll wait for now. Maybe WTB and Gleim Test Bank will help me.

PS: Thanks for the DTA/DTL help last night. It truly helped and finally understanding the concept and getting questions correct. Still studying the topic tonight to get it down good.

    FAR - 46, 79 (7/8/14)
    AUD - 56, 59, 2/23/15 3rd times a charm!
    BEC - 69, 74 Really??
REG - April, I hope. Fingers crossed!

I am getting destroyed (not really, scoring 60% or so) on Becker Deferred Tax questions. Anyone have any tips or tricks to better understand these questions and maybe the concept?

@magatha, i'm in the same boat as you. i'm def freaking out because i'm forgetting a lot of the information or never got tested on it in my first MC quizzes. So when i've gone back, some of the questions completely come of out left field

Here's an explanation i got on Ninja MC :

“If the fair value of the identifiable assets acquired in an acquisition exceeds the cost of the acquisition, the excess must be recognized as an extraordinary gain. Indirect acquisition costs must be expensed.”

Anyone know for sure about this?

In Gleim no where does it even mention in the text an extraordinary gain (unless i missed it), but it does mention a gain from a BPO. And reading over the interpretation of GAAP this is a VERY rare instance because you have to reduce certain assets to avoid having a gain from BPO

@BStewie1987 – I asked that question yesterday look back on page 2 in a response from Gian. His response and link has really helped me understand it better.

I received my score May 2nd. I had to wait till June 1 to get my NTS. Texas wont submit the paper work to NASBA till the test window is closed if you are trying to retake a test. Think NASBA lets you reschedule your test 48 hours after you receive your last score.
