Is it ok to start a FAR Study Group? I retook Audit yesterday and although I don’t have a gut feeling either way if I passed or not, I am going to start on FAR. I am using Becker self-study and purchased the Ninja Notes for FAR.

I am looking forward to reading a/b everyone’s progression. Good Luck!

    Hi All!

I'm taking the exam in about a month and am about to finish going over the Becker review. I had one hold up on gov accounting that is driving me crazy that I'm hoping you can help me with!. The book says that the MD&A section should include “analysis of significant variations of the budget” and then later says the MD&A section should NOT include “variance analysis” of the budget.

Any guidance would be much appreciated!

I'm having such a hard time with bonds- I listened to the lecture, rewrote the chapter and I thought it made sense. Then I started on the MCQ's and they might as well be in a different language because they make absolutely no sense. Grrrrrr

AUD: PASSED [81]; Expired, retaking August 23rd
BEC: PASSED [83]; Expired, retaking July 11th
    REG: PASSED [83]
FAR: FAILED [64]; Retaking May 23rd

Governmental officially sucks, it reminds me of audit. A lot of memorization and the chapters are twice as long as all the other ones. Vent of the day.

    R - 74;88
    A - 84
    B - 74;89
    F - no study = 67; May 15 = 87 & done

For anybody on here who is using Yaeger: do you feel like they do a thorough job explaining bonds? I don't feel like Rogers helped me out a whole lot in this section and I'm considering listening to Yaeger tomorrow but since its 2hours i dont want to waste my time if it won't help….

AUD: PASSED [81]; Expired, retaking August 23rd
BEC: PASSED [83]; Expired, retaking July 11th
    REG: PASSED [83]
FAR: FAILED [64]; Retaking May 23rd

MustPass-bonds is just a difficult subject overall. I am using Yaeger and love it! With that being said I actually watched the bonds lecture twice (yes twice) and feel a lot more comfortable with it. I have done tons of MCQ on it and am scoring 85-90% in Wiley test bank but it took lots of work to get there…just keep going over it and eventually it will make sense. Another suggestion would be to write out all the journal entries. This has helped me a good bit. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks! That gives me some hope. I was stressing out today. I'll watch the yaeger lecture tomorrow and write out the journal entries and keep doing the mcq's until it makes sense. I really don't want to have to push my test out to the end of may.

Scheduled my FAR retake for May 16th – I have just over 6 weeks. I think I can handle 2 Becker chapters/week during the rest of busy season, which would leave me with 1.5 weeks to review (I'm taking off a day or 2 before the test)

and I already started listening to my NINJA audio on the way to/from work, and during 1040 pool duty this week 🙂

@ Rufus.. the question u asked about special revenue fund. First think of the characteristics of it. It is legally restricted for specific purposes…but for those items that r being used, for instance, Gasoline tax to repair the streets or Museum admission fees for maintaining the museum…

It has the character of “current operating expenditure” and moreover the principal and interest, both r spendable.

Now think of Permanent fund- the principal is not spendable so not same as Special Revenue Fund.

Capital project fund – comes into origin only to complete the big projects that has been passed, like construction a highway. Once the work is done…it is closed.

Debt Service Fund- think of it as a piggy bank. Other funds put out money little by little to pay the Bond interest and debt only. This fund is not used for any other purpose.

I hope ..whatever i understood about govt acc is right…if corrections needed, pls hop in…it will help all of us..

    FAR 72,71,81 🙂
    AUD 64,71, 72, 75 🙂 I'm done !!!
    REG 73, 74, 74, 84 🙂
    BEC 76 🙂
