1st full week of studying for my retake. I jumped right into Ninja MCQ, and about half way done. My average score is 78-the topics I am weak on are no surpise. I started to re-write my own notes today, but that was so de-motivating, I didn’t get very far. Tomorrow I need to re-write my notes (they are disjointed from my first test, I want to re-write them by topic in a new notebook). I really need to re-read my Becker book on acquisitions, equity method, and non-monetary exchanges so far. My plan is to get through the rest of the Ninja MCQ by end of next week, and re-write the rest of my notes. I then plan on printing out Ninja notes (didn’t utilize last time) and then jump into SIMS, while re-doing the missed MCQ in Ninja and continue re-reading the book. How are others approaching their re-take?

I got a 74 on one and 78 on the other-not indicative at all of what I got on the test:) LOL!

Those were awesome scores for mock tests. You probably got a set of bad SIMs. I’ve seen a lot of bad SIMs that are impossible in the actual test. I scored a 68 in the last quarter and my MCQ shows comparable and weak in SIMs.

Are you studying full-time? I rescheduled my test on 2/12, but I'm feeling like I need more time to make sure I cover all my materials for FAR. I am thinking of pushing it back to the end of March. But if I do that, I will not be able to sit for REG this quarter. REG is the third section I lost during this excruciating journey of my CPA life.

@Amor-nope working full-time, studying at night and on the weekend. I cannot push this back because the more time I spend with this the worse I feel:) LOL I just scored a 60 on the 30 question progress test on Chapter 4 in Becker…FML Just great;) I am testing on 2/12, come hell or high water!

anyatver and others: How are you guys holding up, I know its score release and everything but I am definitely in an anxious panic. I feel like I am going around in circles. I start with mcq's, get so many wrong, try to go back to the book, get bored, go to the notes, just blindly writing. go to the videos and ask am I wasting time. I don't know what I am doing. I don't feel prepared and am about to lose my mind trying to get a grip. Help guys how are you holding up or focusing on study.

@Tncincy! I hear you! when is your test? Mine is next Monday and I feel like crap, sometimes, and sometimes ok…I resorted to writing out a “Study plan” for each day this week. Here is what I have so far:
Do sets of 30 to 66 in Becker-focusing on each chapter, rather than all chapters. This has flushed out some weaknesses. Today I did 30 questions on F5 and 30 questions on F6. Got a 79 and 73, so not great, but I knew bonds and leases, weak on derivatives and income taxes….
I have gone through all the SIMS that are corresponding to the blueprint-going by the “FAR SIMS straight from AICPA blueprint…”several people in my FAR study group in November swore by it and passed…Now I will go back through them and focus on the journal entries. Make sure I know them.
    Read F10 (I hate government-wide financials)
Today I also did Skills Practice on leases-some good review of lease JEs there as well…

    Hang in there!!!!!

You guys rock! I finished f4 over the weekend but with only a first pass at mcq. the plan for this week is to do a second pass at mcq for f2-f4, beef up my notes, 60q progress test, and attempt at least two sims. So far so good.

@msquared17-I can't even believe my test is on Monday! I feel unprepared, and ready to get it over with all at the same time…. I am having issues with DTL and DTA and derivatives, but don't know how much time I should be spending on these….I am going to redo all of Becker MCQ in F4 tonight, as I know acquisitions are heavily tested…

My test is March 6. January and February was booked, so I waited and maybe waited too long trying to get a better date. Anyway, I took what was available, now I am really tightening up my study. I am working toward non stop mcq's. I just feel so behind. But I ‘ll get it. I have access to Wiley but I am using Ninja and trying to pair the two.

    @tncincy
    , blueprint is here

I have been thinking of getting Gleim TB incorporating with flashcards. I received a weaker performance on SIMs even though I was quite confident answering 6/8.

@J King-welcome! 🙂 I know I shouldn't even go down this path, but if I don't pass this go around, I am going with Gleim next because I am not sure what else to do. I was weaker on SIMS as well.

    Thanks @anyatver !!

For some reason I feel excited to re-take FAR lol. I find crunching numbers more interesting i.e bonds and leases, just can't believe I overlooked Gov't/NFP ughh.

I am sitting for AUD this weekend and still trying to figure out how to change up my studying method now that this same method didn't work when I sat for FAR.

@J King-well, it sounds like you might be at the beginning hence the excitement? I was sure that FAR in November was my last one, this fail has felt like crap (which I am sure they all do no matter what). I feel like what might have worked for AUD may not work for FAR, so you could be ok this weekend-good luck!
