1st full week of studying for my retake. I jumped right into Ninja MCQ, and about half way done. My average score is 78-the topics I am weak on are no surpise. I started to re-write my own notes today, but that was so de-motivating, I didn’t get very far. Tomorrow I need to re-write my notes (they are disjointed from my first test, I want to re-write them by topic in a new notebook). I really need to re-read my Becker book on acquisitions, equity method, and non-monetary exchanges so far. My plan is to get through the rest of the Ninja MCQ by end of next week, and re-write the rest of my notes. I then plan on printing out Ninja notes (didn’t utilize last time) and then jump into SIMS, while re-doing the missed MCQ in Ninja and continue re-reading the book. How are others approaching their re-take?

@anyatver – how many chapters per weeke did you cover your first time through? How many a week for the retake?

Thanks for the advice. I think I’m going to stay the course and plan to take the exam the first week in April.

I woulnd't put the pressure on yourself of having to complete an x amount of chapters per week. not all chapters are created equal, some take a few days, some only take a few hours.

@Sir Plus-that's a good point. @msquared17-first time around I allotted 1 chapter per week with about 3 weeks of review (which wasn't enough for me because I like to work through the Ninja testbank as review). This time around, I didn't really do Becker like the first time. I listened to Revenue recognition lecture since that is new and used the book to take notes. I took two weeks to get through the Ninja testbank as a first pass-through, while re-writing my notes from the first time, I took another week for note-taking, and yet another week to do Ninja “missed since last time seen”. Now we are two weeks out, I am jumping into SIMS (Becker and Ninja) and doing progress tests in both Becker and Ninja and focusing on my weak areas….

I don’t like Becker’s progress test bank and even the Pre-assessment questions in each module. You don’t see the correct answer and explanation until you finish the entire set.

@Amor-that's definitely a drawback, but then you never see your feedback on the real test:) I am 11 days out, feeling nervous and overwhelmed. Jumped into SIMS and doing them according to blueprint. Banking on this and next weekends to really get some hardcore studying done. Getting to the book at 8pm every night is not very productive 🙁 very afraid of failing again….

@anyatver You'll pass. You have been very consistent and diligent with study. You've worked hard. Believe in yourself. Breathe. 🙂

I finally got a date. This quarter has been packed. I couldn't get in in January, so I have March 6 @12:30. No turning back. I am turning it up, right now. I will not take far again. (fingers crossed). I was trying to get in earlier but I probably need the real study time. No more skimming and skipping. I've been through the materials once.

@anyatver What did you use for bonds. Ninja or another review program.

Becker has always been my primary study tool. I have supplemented with Ninja. For the re-take I have used primarily Ninja for the MCQ and Becker for book and SIMS. Ninja audio is good, once you know everything. I printed their notes and flipped through them but feel like my own notes are better…..

Anyone else feel like they don't know anything at this point? I don't know if it's because this is the second day of non-stop SIMS and maybe my brain is fried, I am doubting the easiest things! Tomorrow I will be reading my notes again…..

@Anyatver, I feel you. I’ve been reading my notes (161 pages) this weekend. Just got through half of them all because I forgot prior topics like research & development, computer software, consolidation, intra-company, etc. I had to go back to the annotated book to get some refresher course. I want to finish reading my entire notes before I take my first mock test.

Have you taken the mock test yet?

@Amor-I have taken both mock exams my first go-around. And don't plan on taking it again:) LOL!
