1st full week of studying for my retake. I jumped right into Ninja MCQ, and about half way done. My average score is 78-the topics I am weak on are no surpise. I started to re-write my own notes today, but that was so de-motivating, I didn’t get very far. Tomorrow I need to re-write my notes (they are disjointed from my first test, I want to re-write them by topic in a new notebook). I really need to re-read my Becker book on acquisitions, equity method, and non-monetary exchanges so far. My plan is to get through the rest of the Ninja MCQ by end of next week, and re-write the rest of my notes. I then plan on printing out Ninja notes (didn’t utilize last time) and then jump into SIMS, while re-doing the missed MCQ in Ninja and continue re-reading the book. How are others approaching their re-take?

    Leases are heavily tested, Tncincy.

I remember getting lots of questions on Leases, NFP, Governmental and IFRS. Don't neglect NFP and Government. Pretty much all the not so key areas. Lucky I passed on my first attempt.

    Hey all,

Been a while – I've been hanging around on the AUD Study Group forum since that's what I've been studying, but yeah..I hope everyone is doing well.

    @Tncincy
    – everyone receives different testlets of the exam, so even if someone gets a testlet that has questions that are “heavily tested”, this doesn't mean you're going to get the same testlet. It's true that everyone seems to have a lot of Govt/NFP questions on their exams, but I only had one or two, if not more, lease questions.

@tncincy – is this your first attempt at FAR? Have taken a MOCK exam yet?

No I have not taken the mock exam. This is my second attempt at Far although I have scheduled and paid for it three times. I have never gotten through the materials.

Back to study today? But I am feeling overwhelmed with the amount of material to yet cover. I'm thinking I'll just do mcq's from this point. Oh, I don't know, just thinking out loud. Hope study is going well for everyone else.

Tncincy-when is your test? make sure you give the Becker SIMS a fair amount of time, especially the ones that line up to the blueprint as “Analysis” topics. Good luck!

April 23rd is test day. I am going to throw in sims as well. I was just looking at the blue print.

@tncincy – We’re in the same boat. I’m hoping to get my NTS soon so that I can schedule lock in my date. I was really hoping to be ready next week. But like you said it a lot of information. I feel like I need two more weeks for review. Looking forward to a power weekend.

I am working on calming down. I want to pass so bad. I did not realize I am dealing with so much anxiety until it hinders my study. Solutions: green tea, yoga? help! I shy away from the mcq's because I get so many wrong, then I realize I need to do them to build my average. This revelation comes after I have had a few panic attacks and get sleepy.

I'd like to add that you Ninja's have been a great support in my journey, I want to pass it forward as well. It means a lot to know you have somewhere to vent and have others to help you get it together….lol

    Hi guys, prospective CPA

I had given far today …it sucked my life out.. mcqs were pretty good compared to sims. Honestly I tell you ..lot of practice on mcqs and Sims and mock test has to be done. I couldn't manage my time for sims. I had lot of questions on NFP, equity/ FV method , government, cash flow. I don't think I will get through 75 . Will focus on reg now and then far again ..I want to clear desperately ..has to come up with different strategy to clear the exam next time. I feel it's inevitable to clear asap as complexity is increasing ..though it's subjective view. Practice practice is new mantra!

@tncincy- You got this! The first hurdle to clear is being honest with yourself – you sound like you know what your triggers are. Definitely work on techniques to ease your anxiety. Our challenges are very similiar. My anxiety kicks in when I start thinking about the test date and how much of the information I really don't know. Its very overwhelming to me. Then I start to stress and wonder if I'm doing something wrong. This turns into hours of wasted time that I could have used to study. This just happened to me on Wednesday. I got really frustrated with the Mock exam and couldn't focus the rest of the day. So what seems to work for me is to focus on studying effectively. If I feel I'm making progress, then I'm doing something right. I know many won't agree, but I'm not scheduling a date until I get through my review (I did pay for the exam 🙂 ). I know I will take it in April, and I'm not going to drag it out. I know that I have to review each topic to make sure I understand it. So if that means it takes me a few more days,
then so be it. Tonight was leases. I did 20 Ninja mcq's and the corresponding Sim and Becker skills practice from the blue print. Tomorrow will be different topics.

You still have time. How are you approaching your review? Maybe take small chunks instead everything at one time.

We will get through this together.
