    1st full week of studying for my retake. I jumped right into Ninja MCQ, and about half way done. My average score is 78-the topics I am weak on are no surpise. I started to re-write my own notes today, but that was so de-motivating, I didn’t get very far. Tomorrow I need to re-write my notes (they are disjointed from my first test, I want to re-write them by topic in a new notebook). I really need to re-read my Becker book on acquisitions, equity method, and non-monetary exchanges so far. My plan is to get through the rest of the Ninja MCQ by end of next week, and re-write the rest of my notes. I then plan on printing out Ninja notes (didn’t utilize last time) and then jump into SIMS, while re-doing the missed MCQ in Ninja and continue re-reading the book. How are others approaching their re-take?

    Hope study is going well for everyone. My client today is a no-show, so I am getting with my studies today. Calling it a power week end. Plan to put a major dent in the reading materials and do mcq's topic by topic this evening.

    Took yesterday off, back at it today. The goal is 100 mcq. Today the focus is EPS and CF.

    @cpatang – welcome to the group 🙂

    I just started studying for FAR re-take a couple days ago. I took it 1/3/17, almost 15 months ago, and haven't looked at any material since. But…it's coming back to me!
    I'm not reading much of the book but am making a list of updates, as the textbook is slightly outdated (2016 printing, but it said it was good until March 2017.)
    Instead of reading and taking tons of notes like I did in 2016 while studying for it, I'm simply working MCQ and SIM probems.

    Feeling accomplished! Today I focused on EPS. I did Ninja mcq, Becker skills practice and mcq, and then back to Ninja. I ended with 73% with Becker and 84% with Ninja. This is the first time that I’ve actually honed in a one topic until I got it. Still not 100% but I feel comfortable with my progress. I plan to tackle CF tomorrow.

    @Msquared17
    With 73% progress with Becker, you’re golden!
    Have you taken Mock Exams already?

    After I hit 70%+ in Q1 with Becker, that’s when I did my Mock Exam#1 and I was surprised to see my progress rate going up in the 80’s. I was able to accomplish 91% after completing Mock Exam#2. I was aiming to hit 100% but I left several MCQs unanswered. Dang, I ran out of time till the actual date. FAR material is just enormous. I didn’t have a chance to answer a single question in my Progress Test bank. I didn’t even finish my Final Review (FAR-Becker) software including 300+ MCQs. My goal was to make sure I know the heavily tested topics. I made sure I know the basic computational and theory questions in Financial.

    @amor – those percentages are just for mcq’s related to EPS. Sorry if I was misleading. When the day comes that I can trend 70% on cumulative questions, I will jump for joy. Lol

    @tncincy -That's a good idea. It gives you a nice baseline. Don't be intimidated. I'm thinking of doing one this week too.

    Tncincy-I hated taking these, made me upset, nervous, etc. The only way to think of these is to give you practice at something that looks like the real thing. If you do badly, it gives you tools and idea which areas need work. If you do well, take it with a grain of salt as the real test is both easier (MCQ) and harder (SIMS) in real life…. I would just do at least one to get a taste for sitting at that computer to do 60 MCQ and 8 SIMS all at once…That's all it's for. If you think of it like that, it's not terrible. all of these are learning tools and you have to think of them as such-good luck!

    The plan this morning (almost afternoon) is to finish cash flows, go over bonds in depth and definitely get into government and nfp. It sounds like a lot but hey. No time to relax.
