1st full week of studying for my retake. I jumped right into Ninja MCQ, and about half way done. My average score is 78-the topics I am weak on are no surpise. I started to re-write my own notes today, but that was so de-motivating, I didn’t get very far. Tomorrow I need to re-write my notes (they are disjointed from my first test, I want to re-write them by topic in a new notebook). I really need to re-read my Becker book on acquisitions, equity method, and non-monetary exchanges so far. My plan is to get through the rest of the Ninja MCQ by end of next week, and re-write the rest of my notes. I then plan on printing out Ninja notes (didn’t utilize last time) and then jump into SIMS, while re-doing the missed MCQ in Ninja and continue re-reading the book. How are others approaching their re-take?

@J King-good luck in your studies! It will all come together at the end, just keep grinding. I hear Gleim SIMS are really good! I have been taking it really easy. I am very calm for some strange reason. Trying not to get myself to excited, because there are definitely things worse than a failing FAR score, but it was really really hard to take. So I am thinking of a re-take in April, just in case. I originally was going to review until score release, but the score release got moved to March 8th and I really don't have it in me to study right now. So i decided to re-introduce myself to my family, get some things done I have been putting off, in case I have to be in shut-in mode again come March 8th. 🙂 Keep this thread going! I will be checking in:)

I' working on mcq's and organizing my notes since it's slow today. (had early clients), so I am bringing myself to be thorough. Extra dedication is what's necessary.
@anyatver: just relax the score will come soon enough. Hopefully it's enough to pass and you're done with this process.

The rest of us will keep studying hard.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

@Tncincy-writing and re-writing notes really helped to crystallize the stuff I had to know or didn't know. I didn't read them as much as I would have liked, but I did refer to them quite a bit.

I schedueled FAR on the 22nd. It my first time taken this exam. I am not sure which topic should I focus more on. I heard mixed reviews on NFP and Government. I am pretty much know the materials in and out just want to focus more on a specifc topic if it tends to show up often on the exam. I've been doing the progress 33 MCQs covering F1 to F10 and got an acerage score of 80 and will taken the final exams in the upcoming week.

You have to know everything reasonably well to pass. What review course are you using? Don't ignore the SIMS, they are 50% of your grade and is the portion everyone struggles with the most. I would make sure to know all of the financial statements, bonds, leases, definitely acquisitions, pensions as well, even though those are less likely to show up in SIMS according to the AICPA blueprint discussed on this forum at length. NFP and government is heavily tested in MCQ so you do have to know it.

I am using Becker. I usually do crazy amount of MCQs because I feel like I learn more of conceptual stuff from MCQs than the actual sims. I will try to focus a little more on NFP and Government for the MCQs but you never know what you going to get till you sit for the exam

    @jiantang25, welcome~

Don't just focus a little more. Make sure you master them! It is truly heavily tested, 5-15% of the FAR exam content. That's already huge. You can't afford to guess answers related to them.

It's one of the mistakes I made, and I'm helping others to be aware of this.

Took FAR for the 4th time. I felt like the 2nd testlet was noticeably more difficult but man those SIMs. The SIMs were brutal once again. A lot of information and documents to sift through that may or may not be relevant. For the first time I didn't have a breakdown after the exam so that's shocking. What's done is done. I hope we can get 75s, been on this journey for too long.

I'm taking this week off from studying (burn out is real). I'll go back to FAR next week. I need to pass FAR and retake REG before my BEC expires 7/31. Good luck to everyone!

    REG: 69, 73, 80!
    FAR: 62
    BEC: TBD
    AUD: TBD

@anyatver did you just follow the becker sims and skills practices from the thread regarding the blueprints that Ana had posted? or did you do some additional ones outside of that too

@mskcle-I started with the SIMS and Skills Practices from the thread, and my last couple of days before the test, I just went through the modules and chapters and tried to do as many of the ones I haven't done. Like for example I skipped the ARO SIM initially, but Sunday before the test, I did it, same with Pensions SIMS. I did the Stockholder's equity, bonds and leases Skills Practices on Sunday, and also some revenue recognition ones. Doing the Skills Practices felt a lot more beneficial than the MCQ at that point.
