    1st full week of studying for my retake. I jumped right into Ninja MCQ, and about half way done. My average score is 78-the topics I am weak on are no surpise. I started to re-write my own notes today, but that was so de-motivating, I didn’t get very far. Tomorrow I need to re-write my notes (they are disjointed from my first test, I want to re-write them by topic in a new notebook). I really need to re-read my Becker book on acquisitions, equity method, and non-monetary exchanges so far. My plan is to get through the rest of the Ninja MCQ by end of next week, and re-write the rest of my notes. I then plan on printing out Ninja notes (didn’t utilize last time) and then jump into SIMS, while re-doing the missed MCQ in Ninja and continue re-reading the book. How are others approaching their re-take?

    Thank you so much @msquared17-think of me in your studies you guys tomorrow! I am happy we kept this thread going-I will be checking in! I have to say that doing random Skills Practices today has been great. Every time I wasn't sure of the journal entry, it was good to give it a shot. I just did 30 MCQ in Ninja on Select Financial Accounts with an 83, and a 20 MCQ test in becker F1 and F2-90…I am debating whether I should do a couple more MCQ tests or just call it a day and let it all settle into my brain. Maybe will do 2 sets of 33 in Becker for good measure:) I promised myself I would review governmental today, but I might just read through my notes tomorrow morning…

    @pam, welcome to the thread!

    I concur that this thread helps you to be empowered. Woke up 4:30am earlier to reread pensions and take GOOD notes. I got a 65 from poor note-taking, aka not writing it in your own words. Might start waking up way earlier to sneak in some study sesh.

    Also realized from reading the book carefully and replaying parts of lectures multiples, it dawned on me concepts that I never cared knowing before. All part of learning curve to me, self re-evaluation is important and it's part of prevailing over the exam. Better suffer today than regret.

    @anyatver, GOOD LUCK! Looking forward to read your story!

    @anyatver Best wishes. You will do just fine. Hopefullly. we will keep up this post going and maybe others retaking far will jump right in. 🙂 We look forward to hearing your story. Don't leave off government, I hear it is heavily tested. This group has been a great mental boost for me to keep fighting for the CPA designation. I have been in so many what's the use situations, but I am willing to keep going. No matter when the score release is…lol.
    Keep studying hard.

    I'm having a few minutes to go over some notes before business pick up. I checked again to see if any more seats opened up with NO luck. I know, I know Just get it done on March 6.

    I failed my first attempt with a 60. The sims made me question my career choices…. Any way, rescheduled a retake for March 7th. I was hoping to bounce my re-study plan and see what everyone thinks. I usually have about an hr a day downtime at work so I would spend that hr Mon-Fri reading/re-writing ninja notes. Then in evenings of mon-thur re-watch roger lecture videos/cram vids with ninja mcqs and ninja TBS for 3-4 hours and 6 hrs for sunday. The spouse and I have an agreement that Friday night and all Saturday is “us” time otherwise I`d probably study then too….
    My first go I only used Roger, but I did not follow his formula. I watched all the lectures and then did the mcq`s and only did about a 3rd of the TBS. I regret that.
    I`ve picked up ninja for far to supplement my roger material. Any thoughts or advice is greatly appreciated.

    @ryno, welcome!

    I used Roger too and preeeeeetty much had the same study method as you: watch lectures, drill MCQ and TBS.. got a 65

    Re-evaluated why I failed and realized it was definitely because of my study method. Barely read the book and drilled too much MCQ, not even bothering reading explanation carefully. So prior to my re-take, I have to make certain I won't be committing same mistakes again.

    I recently purchased Gleim TB to supplement with Roger to up my SIMs game. Most have said SIMs on Gleim kicks your butt harder than actual exam. So far, I am liking it: clean interface, great diagnostics and interpretation of your weak points. I do have seen people passing Roger + Ninja on FAR. I chose Gleim because thought I had to improve on SIMs since I received a weaker performance.

    @J King , Thanks!
    My biggest complaint on Roger was TBS and MCQ explanations was lacking, I felt like anyway.
    Best of Luck to you on your retake! I too have heard good things about Gleim TB.

    Hello party people! Took FAR this afternoon. This test went much better than the last. I can never tell the degree of difficulty, but I would say they were pretty much the same throughout-not too heavy on government which I took as a good sign. Overall, I felt like I knew what I was doing. Maybe guessed on 5 total….The SIMS were also doable. I just hate that screen, the layout, and I always feel rushed, so maybe there was one SIM I could have spent more time on, but oh well. Submitted with 38 minutes left on the clock-I took no breaks, I never do.

    Here is my take away from this test-study the blueprints, for SIMS and MCQ, just know those areas inside and out. Don't ignore NFP or Government. The thing I did differently this time around, is left SIMS for last and yesterday just did a ton of Skills Practices in Becker, also made sure for every single topic to know the journal entries. Re-writing my notes for most topics in my own words really helped me as well. The only thing that could have screwed me over is the fact that I did rush through that one SIM and think that I might have screwed it up partially (or completely). I'd say I did half of the SIMS for sure correctly. I will visit this thread-keep it going! 🙂

    Congrats, you probably aced it! We're hoping the best, don't for get the rest of us. I know there are some other veterans on here, but you can't expect people to hang around after they pass. I still see Missy checking in and encouraging. (shout out to Missy)

    @anyatver woohoo! Agreed you might have killed it. That's the same feeling I had after I took AUD last weekend, so we'll see~

    And definitely visit this thread from time to time and watch me and @tncincy kill this stuff as well, lol. After all you created this thread. It's your home.

    About the screen, yeah.. Really hate navigating through the documents when you do SIMs. Here's hoping the new exam interface fixes this thing.

    I will be back you guys-it's an obsessive compulsive thing to visit this forum! 🙂 LOL And it's not over until March 8th anyway. @Tncincy-think of DRS as an extended MCQ-it makes it easier to take. You are all going to kill it in March, I know it!

    J King, signing back in to ask how are y'all doing?

    4th day of prepping up for the re-take on Apr 2018 (might possibly get pushed to May 2018 'cause Cal Board hasn't given me ATT yet, ughh). Not going to lie but getting 65 on FAR still stings until now, though I have been turning it into motivation. Just started studying for leases, and I can confidently say I have 85% mastered pensions in 2 days. Can't wait for my Gleim FAR book to come tomorrow to see if there are still stuff I need to learn for pensions.

    @anyatver, have you been taking it easy after the exam? Stoked for you to achieve your freedom!
