    1st full week of studying for my retake. I jumped right into Ninja MCQ, and about half way done. My average score is 78-the topics I am weak on are no surpise. I started to re-write my own notes today, but that was so de-motivating, I didn’t get very far. Tomorrow I need to re-write my notes (they are disjointed from my first test, I want to re-write them by topic in a new notebook). I really need to re-read my Becker book on acquisitions, equity method, and non-monetary exchanges so far. My plan is to get through the rest of the Ninja MCQ by end of next week, and re-write the rest of my notes. I then plan on printing out Ninja notes (didn’t utilize last time) and then jump into SIMS, while re-doing the missed MCQ in Ninja and continue re-reading the book. How are others approaching their re-take?

    @jking – good luck tomorrow!!! I agree with Amor that you should clear your head of any and all distractions. I know that's easier said than done. 🙂

    @anyatver – how are you holding up?

    Woke up with a renewed spirit. I feel fresh and ready to tackle F5! I'm sure I will have lots of questions today. LOL

    @anyatver My FAR is scheduled for 3/2. I got through all the materials last week so I’ve been going through all the MCQs from the beginning. I did every MCQ from F5 (bonds), and I’m about to start on the F6 MCQs.

    Once I get through F6, I’m going to do a set of random 33 MCQs from F1-F10 (I’m not going through F7-F10 since they are still fresh as I just finished them last week) with SIMs until my exam date. I think I’m going to do the Ninja monthly subsription so I don’t get complacent with the Becker questions. Let’s finish strong everyone!

    @Big4BeanCounter-Ninja is a great idea! I used Ninja for MCQ for this re-take and Becker for SIMS, and switched back to Becker MCQ this and largely last week because whether you mean for it or not you have seen same questions so many times you fee like you are going through the motions. So a different test bank is always beneficial!
    @msquared17-my goal today is to look at all the SIMS I have done, finish Pensions SIMS, and I have been make notes in short hand on everything I know-figured if I write down every journal entry (preferably off the top of my head) then I will feel more prepared for Monday. I am admittedly petrified, but I have to let go of that feeling:) LOL!

    Good to see you guys up and at it early. I don't have set plans but I need to go through the mcq's topic by topic and do some sims. I worked on cash flows last night. I had a few appointments cancel today due to illness. ( I don't want to be sick ) So if I'm not bum-rushed I am going to go through my heavily tested group. I agree finish strong everyone.

    @msquared17
    and @amor, thanks! and sorry for late response. Yeah I was way too excited about starting over on FAR lol, especially that I got Gleim TB.

    @anyatver, geez 2 days more.. tick tock tick tock. You feel raring to go?

    @tncincy
    , sorry to hear that. Studying while sick is the worst thing ever, makes it harder to concentrate. Did you really schedule on 3/6? Just curious. I hope for your swift recovery~

    I'm not sick, my clients were. I did schedule 3/6, the only other date open was 3/11 and probably one at the end of the month. I checked again yesterday and there is nothing but a few days in April. I'm done with work and about to rap it up and get home so I can get those books out. I am absolutely tired but I am going to get it done. No procrastinating.

    I'm heading to attempt #2 for FAR, this is my last section, I need to pass by 4/20 before REG expires (and my husband and children disown me). I took FAR in Q3.17 and I did a terrible 65.
    I plan on listening to Ninja audio on my commutes to work and reading notes. I'm trying to do MCQs one section at a time b/c I'm rusty. I have the exam scheduled for 3/9 – I've freed up weekends and finishing up QE at work so week nights are free again. I figured I'd give it my all this next month and absolute worse case, I get in for a hail mary before 4/20

    Besides ninja (and becker, I used that attempt 1 and it's expired) any favorites for those that need a FAST refresh?

    This happened to me with REG, I did a 65, pounded out MCQs and practice exams for a month and did a 77. It took me FOUR times on BEC (the 73's were my death) and AUD came easily to me.
    I do revenue accounting full time so that part of FAR is good for me.

    All the advice and prayers please! Also anyone in MD that can tell me if i need to pass ethics before 4/20 or after I complete all 4 (meaning the 18 month rule doesn't apply to ethics)

    Hi, Pam-I say jump into MCQ in Ninja and do them all section by section to flush out the weak areas. What I did for my re-take is use Ninja primarily for MCQ and Becker for the SIMS. You might want to look at the FAR Simulations straight from AICPA blueprint thread, where the SIMS are mapped out according to topics (any topic in the blueprint marked analysis is a fair game for a SIM). This could help focus your studies on areas that are likely to rear their ugly head on the exam. I would also give government accounting the fair share of attention, heavily tested in MCQ historically as you probably know…. Good luck!

    Is installment sales & cost recovery method being tested? Did not see this in Becker and it is throwing me a huge curve ball on Ninja MCQ

    @mskcle-based on the updated Revenue Recognition lecture in Becker it sounds like those two aren't being tested, but they still kind of do appear in the MCQ..The new revenue recognition lecture in Becker says that IFRS doesn't allow completed contract method, but if the costs cannot be estimated for certain for % of completion, then the cost recovery method is used. Becker % of completion SIM has cost recovery method( IFRS) so I reviewed that and went to my old textbook to write down the JE for cost recovery method…Hope this helps.

    @Pam – welcome to the group.

    Sounds like its been a productive study weekend for everyone. F5 liabilities just kicked by butt. No time to wallow, I'm moving on to bonds…smh… I'm planning to take the exam on 4/2, but you guys make me feel really inspired. I'm not giving up hope on taking it on 3/2. I really wish I didnt' have a work trip from 3/5-3/10. I feel like that extra week would have given me enough time. Finishing F5 today and I'll see how things progress over the next week. I'm still holding out hope 🙂 I think I will aslo add Ninja now that he's added the subscription plan.

    I just took a 45 minute nap. Going through leaseback Skills Practice, then will do a sweep through stockholder's equity, have to make my own notes on Pensions, then a quick review of government accounting…I did 66 progress test in Becker yesterday, and 20 question quiz on Chapter 9 and 10. 89 and 80 respectively. Don't know how many MCQ I can do at this point, they are annoying me. Sticking with SIMS, Skills practice and a bit of MCQ today. Will be reading my condensed notes tomorrow morning. I will be checking in tomorrow night-study hard everyone!

    @anyatver – sending {{{{{{good vibes}}}}}} your way! I know you will knock this one out of the park!

    Bonds is also kicking my butt! Taking break for now. I have 1.5 modules left to finish up mcq for F5. I am running out of steam. LOL
