    @zena

Free0911, no one knows if you have a new simulation but AICPA, and they won't tell! You score will most likely come out in wave 2 if you take it on the 13th, so whether you have a new sim or not, will not matter. I think Jeff has a post somewhere on the site about recommended number of study hours for each exam. You might want to look around. Maybe even the first few posts in this thread.

I think Jeff said Study hours for FAR is 6-8 weeks at 20 hours a week. So anywhere from 120-160 hours.

    FAR 73 02/09 AUD 68 04/09, 80 11/09 BEC 72 04/09, 78 10/09 REG 80 05/09

    FAR 73 02/09 ??? 02/10 AUD 68 04/09 80 11/09 BEC 72 04/09 78 10/09 REG 80 05/09

Has anyone had problems w/ any of the exams, as far as doing the questions so many times, they became memorized and the the actual exam was not as you had prepared for?

“Also, don't minimize gov't and NFP like some people say. It is on there. “

Don't minimize anything, I have learned that lesson 3x already…

    CVACPA –

Yes, so far on all three sections the questions become so familiar that you memorize the answer & not the theory. Hard to imagine that is possible when Becker has 1,000 (+-/) questions but after a few times around you do memorize those. I saw on here months ago someone with the same situation & gave good advice – find questions from other sources rather than just your review course whether online or wherever. The theory will then stick with you, not just answers.

This is so frustrating… I am studying to retake FAR after 6 weeks off of it. I'll read the chapters and remember just about everything in there but when I go to do MC questions, I still score horribly.

FAR questions are by far the trickiest of the 3 I have taken so far. They throw in nots, excepts, and extra dollar amounts that are not necessary for the answer… I am going to lose it.

    REG 97, FAR 69,82, AUD 80, BEC 71, 81 - It finally ended!!

I'm joining you all on taking FAR. I'm signed up for Feb 26th and starting to study today. I hope its enough time!!! I just took BEC Saturday.

I've had the same problem with memorizing the questions rather than knowing the concepts on other sections. That's good advice to try questions from other sources.

Has anyone taken FAR yet this window? Thoughts, reactions? I am taking FAR on 2/1.

I have the same question. Any thoughts of how it compared to what you expected and what to focus our studies on?

Be prepared to do journal entries (not my best area of expertise)! My sims did not have “situation” tabs, but independent topics on each tab. Almost all tabs required journal entries. I budgeted 45 minutes per sim, but did not finish either one.

I recommend going through the MCQs as fast as you can without marking any for review, but read them carefully. Save plenty of time for the simulations.

I used Becker and Wiley and thought I was adequately prepared, but brush up on current topics such as severance pay/packages that are not covered well in the 2009 study materials.

    CPAWannaBe,

Thanks so much….that info is VERY HELPFUL. I have three more lectures remaining and then a MAJOR two week review.
