AARONParticipantThanks! Hope you're right, I didn't score that well while doing them however… I'm just hoping the real deal is a little easier than those…
In any case, I am going to shoot for less time on MC seems like… I just don't want to cut back too much, I heard MC is what carries you on this exam, I know of people who claim they bombed the SIMs or didn't even finish a SIM and still passed…

zenaParticipantI have to agree with your last post there Glogo. I allowed myself no less than 1 hour for the sims and I had to cut short testlet #3 by guessing on 4 questions (which I left for the end – the kind that you can spend 10 min each and still don't know if you're going to get it right!). The MCQs took me 3 hours to get through in total and I agree that you shouldn't shortchange yourself on them. I managed the sims in 1 hour though by the last tab of the last sim I was so mentally exhausted, I just watched the clock run down for 5 minutes. I could not squeeze another thought out of my brain! LOL Good luck!!

AnonymousInactiveI took it yesterday and finished the first and third testlet in about 35 minutes, but the second testlet took me a little over an hour. Sims we not that difficult and I got both the research questions. The worst part was the second testlet where alot of the questions were like the examples on my study material but they always threw in an extra number or topic in there that made it so confusing. It seemed like they were trying to trick me on every question in the 2nd testlet.

AnonymousInactiveGlogo and CantTakeIt,
Good luck on your FARE exam! You guys will do just fine. I had about 2 hours and 10 mins by the time I got to the simulation tabs. I find that the actual CPA exam questions are tricky but not lengthy and as such you should try to work the questions as quickly and efficiently as possible. Make use of the “mark for review” button so if you are not too sure of a question you can always go back and review it. I always have a hard time with the communication portion because I tend to be a perfectionist and write the most articulate essay…..by doing that I wasted a lot of time but I managed to finish the exam with 1 minute left. I did the research tabs last because they are worth the less points but it might make the difference between getting a 74 and a passing grade. Once again, good look to all the future CPAs out there and congrats again to everyone that passed.
Always remember that “Nothing worhtwhile ever comes easy”.

AnonymousInactiveThanks Stacy!! I hope you passed with flying colors 🙂 I did some progress tests last night and improved my score from the day before so I plan on doing a little bit more tonight before I was the hour The Office baby special haha. I plan on taking your advice and reading the q's all the way through cuz I'm one to skip key words haha.

AARONParticipantSo, just got back from my exam…
Well, well. In short, this exam is not for the weak hearted, haha.
In long,
The 1st testlet was the easiest of the 3, in fact, all the questions I encountered I re-read to make sure I wasn't missing anything obvious. The 2nd testlet, well, it was for sure harder, but I wouldn't say impossible, did need more time than the 1st, that's for sure. The 3rd testlet was a mixed bag, but for sure easier than the second. THEN come the SIMs. Holy crap, thank god for doable communication and thank god I got the research questions, cause otherwise, I did a lot more guessing than working. Of the all the ‘problem' tabs, I would say there was only one I feel good about, the other 5 or 6, wow! I am pretty sure I guessed on all of them.
Basically, it's in gods hands now. I am def going to be on the bubble based on the above. But you know what, I may not even be on the bubble… does anyone know of anyone that has passed even while bombing the SIMs? Cause if not, I don't have a chance. Time will tell I guess.
Good luck tomorrow CantTakeIt!!!

I was desperately waiting for your post since this morning, However, I am freaking out man!! It seems like that exam is tough for everyone. By the way, how many months and approx how many hours a day u put in this exam?

The GaJoneParticipantSounds like your experience was identical to mine. I thought the MC were tough but fair, and I thought I nailed the WC but the rest of the sims were BRUTAL. I did not feel confident about my responses on ANY of the sim tabs outside of the WC. I didn't even answer the 2nd research question and left 1 tab of the 2nd sim almost completely blank before running out of time and got an 81. So, hopefully you have the same luck I did.

AARONParticipantIt's nice knowing I may still have a chance. I literally just put random stuff in most of the ‘problems'… there was one SIM tab that I felt OK about and I wrote a real good first COM an OK second com and I got both RES.
I think all in all I put about 6 weeks of studying at 30 hours a week… so maybe around 180 hours?! But I also started from basically zero knowledge of this stuff, haven't looked at this stuff in a long time before starting to study in late January…

letspass2010ParticipantGlogo, I've been following your posts lately and I really hope you pass FAR.
I'm taking it this Sat. So nervous.
But I haven't been able to study much the past few days. I think I'm just burnt out..
I've been studying since beg of Feb. right after my Reg exam. averaging around 8 hours per day for 4 weeks straight.
I did a practice exam 1 on Becker yesterday and it took me over an hour to do each mc testlets!
I must have been half day dreaming, but they were for sure lengthy and hard questions.
I scored around 60, 66, 70 on the mc. pretty worried.
I'm still weak on some areas like pension and consolidation.
I'm planning to re-read those topics and do some more mcs if my brain can handle it.
I just want to get this over with!! Good luck to everyone else.

AARONParticipantI think the biggest difference between the MC in Becker and the actual exam is that the exam questions are not as crazy involved and lengthy… so if you focus and read the questions you're gonna be fine… don't get hung up on scoring lower on Becker MC… they are always harder than the real deal, that has been my experience with all the exams. Good luck! You'll be fine, not sure how you can prepare for the SIMs… they are ridic! Let me know how your test goes.

letspass2010ParticipantI don't know how you can prepare for sims, either. I'll definitely share my experiences after the exam.
Thanks, Glogo!
