If you scroll down a bit on this page you'll see a discussion and explanation of that same problem. Hope that helps.

CapitalGains: what was your study plan? seems like it's working for you!

    FAR: TBA: Studying
    REG: 07/23/11: Studying
    BEC: 07/10/10: Passed (8/23)
    AUD: 05/23/11: Waiting

Striker, with only 8 days to go and you are on Chapter 3 of Becker, you should seriously consider rescheduling the FAR exam. I know you said that you studied Financials in college but I dont know if you are in the details enough to pass FAR without adequately going over the depth of information in FAR.

REG 75, BEC 77, AUD 66,74,80 FAR 62,71,85 feels good to be done!!!!!

I would take it anyway – you never know. As one of our Becker Professor told us – don't miss the window, you might pass. I wasn't prepared for my FAR, but I went to just see how it looks – and I passed… not with the best score, but still:)

Or… maybe rescheduling for same window makes sense… idk

Anna, I agree in part. He should take it in the JAN/FEB window. However, if he takes it in the first week of the window then he will not be able to retake FAR until 1 APR at the earliest. If he is not adequately prepared with only 1/3 of Becker FAR Review completed then I suggest a later exam appointment in the JAN/FEB window. Just my thoughts.

Yeah, I actually wrote first part of my message and then edited it after some rethinking:)

I guess it depends on where in the window are you. If closer to the end – then take it anyway.

I agree with everything you said.:)

Thanks for the advice guys but I should clarify something…

I don't start work until February, and I've literally put everything aside so I study morning til night. I get at least 10 hours of studying a day, I'm planning on finishing 4 today and reviewing all first 4 chapters today, then doing two full chapters tomorrow, then one chapter each day until saturday, then full review of everything on sunday.

I did Reg in less than two weeks, which was 2 lectures shorter but the 3 business law lectures I'd never seen before in my life since I never took law. With FAR everything is familiar to me and I've done it all in about 90% as detailed as Becker does it back in college, the only problem is FAR has SOOOOO much material it makes it hard to maintain stamina. Good Luck to all you guys, I really will be devastated if I don't pass, but honestly this is how I work, it's a curse that I can't study too far in advance. If I have more than the bare minimum amount of time left I'll just waste it.

Well back to the books I go, good luck 😀

I hear ya, I studied 10-12 days for each part – 4-5 hours a day. Best of luck and I hope you'll pass!

Strider4216, I admire your stamina. I have been trying to study FAR since mid-October, piecemeal. I would review 3 chapters after completion and felt great before I moved on. Now that I am in final-review mode, I am still scoring 50-60% on the homework… and I have already done them twice. I feel like such a dumba$$ and I have one week left. Changing my exam date is out of the question due to the backlog at work I have and an upcoming busy tax season. I'm just gonna give it my best and hope that although I will never master every subject, karma will be kind to me next week.

On a side note, I have been over a few previously released AICPA questions and seem to handle those pretty well.

Anna, I was upset for you to see that 74. You have done great on the others though, so you should be proud. You will OWN REG next time!

Aww, CPAWannaBe – thank you… I was upset too. But honestly, I am recalling my approach for first two section and how it was different for last two… I was much more serious in August. In November i was relying on some kind of miracle and didn't concentrate on studying as I should have.

But thank you again – I hope I'll be done in January!

I think you'll do great on FAR… you studied a lot!

Good Luck – I'll be crossing my fingers for you on the 5th:-)

    Anna/strider4216-

Thanks for all of your advice. Anna-I am using your plan and it seems to be working well. It does help concrete the information in and since there is sooo much, it is very necessary that you don't forget what you did in Chapter 1.

Thank you all for your help and words of encouragement!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!

Chucker18, I'm glad it is helping – it is actually Olinto's idea to take it in small portions – I think it makes much more sense than listening to the whole thing; important to remember to review after you have done 2 or 3 lectures like that.

WorkingHard, it's hard to tell. I procrastinated a lot with FAR, so even though I overall I “studied” about 1.5 months – it was much less in reality. I think about 10 days of listening to lectures and completeing homework.

I'd say – if money is not a huge issue – always give it a try in a window. I remember my friend took it in August, right after FastPass and homework completion – he got 80.

And yes, all of you: Good Luck!!! We'll defeat this exam no matter what:-))
