pamdoMember@snick722 i wholeheartedly i agree with you on the Gearty. If Olinto taught most of FAR i would probably get through the material faster and retain more. the highlighting and underscoring is distracting. an F2 was brutal for me. it was like pulling teeth. that has been the longest chapter for me to get through.

pamdoMemberFor those using Becker are you doing the supplemental questions along with the normal questions or using them for review? one of the reasons its taking me so long to get through the chapters are those questions. in F4 there are 98 MCQ in the supplemental material. Any suggestions or ways its worked for you ?

Marivy22ParticipantMy lovely weekend at the library….
I just finished F6 & F7 this weekend….After re-scheduling my test I have re-watched F3-F7 and worked on quizes for chapters F3-F5 and progress test for F1-F5.
Having my test for 11/07 I will focus on MCQ's for the next 3 weeks.
My goal for this test, same as AUD, try to do as good as I can on MCQ's and try my best on the SIMS. At least I know I can do cash flows and Income Statements……..hopes that works 😉
as all of us, I just need the enchanted 75….
If you need more practice do the supplemental q's. If not, move forward. I realized that it was taking sooooo long to cover the material that left the supplemental questions for later. Having said that, I re-scheduled my test, because I was weak in all or most areas, and was getting frustrated. Frustration in this process is not good at all.
Done 😉

AnonymousInactiveIs anyone else freaking out here? My exam is scheduled for Wednesday and I feel like I am completely unprepared. I've been studying for a little over a month now about 3-4 hours a day. I've done all the Becker lectures, homework, and final review but feel like I haven't retained anything. Financial has never been my strongest subject but I have no idea how I'm going to pass this test. Any suggestions on what to cram before Wednesday?

PeanutParticipantDear FAR,
Last July you made me walk out of the testing center practically crying. You destroyed my dignity and confidence, but over all made me feel like I was incompetent. October 31st we meet again, and you are going down. I am going to destroy you.
Until then,
Peanut.

mandy8041Member@Iamblessed- I used Becker for FAR. My suggestion is make a plan and stick to it. If i was doing it all over again, I would skip the lectures because you HAVE to read it anyways and the lectures just basically read the book anyways. I would read the lectures and write down anything that you do not already know 100%. It is very time consuming but helps A LOT. After reading all the lectures, go through your notes again one time. then start MC's. Go through each section of the MC's and print any questions you miss. Once you are done with all Mc's, re-read your notes and re-review missed MC's. Do the simulations and then do 2 practice tests. This should be enough! I did this for REG and passed easily. Barely passed FAR the first time, but I did not study R8 and R9 at all.
FAR- 75

BEC- 73, 79!! Its over. Am I dreaming?

Unless you are GOOD with Financial Accounting give yourself plenty of time. I started studying in August, thinking that I would be prepared to take the exam at the beginning of October ………..I was simply ignorant. Make sure to take notes, either watching or reading the lectures taking notes is very important and try to understand the concepts. It is super time-consuming, I have just taken AUD and this is a completely different story.

My study plan is also 3-4 during the week and 12 hours over the weekend. I had to re-scheduled because of the same reason. I was freaking out and not feeling ready at all. If you are not ready, re-schedule and give yourself few more weeks, unless you are in a strict schedule to be done with this journey. I have re-watched the lectures one more time and have been doing quizes and progress test. I am not ready to take the test today, but I am confident that I will be ready for 11/7 😉 i better be!!!

IamBlessedParticipantThank you for the advice and yes becker instructors read out of the book but i like the way they make notes on the pages and indeed do explain it … btw i am planning to take FAR mid January as my NTS expires 1/18 … do you think that would be enough time to preparre if i plan to study m-th 3 hours and friday saturday and sunday 4-5 hrs each?
@mandy8041 — i like the way you did it and i will follow your plan … thanks!

Marivy22ParticipantIamBlessed
I think mid January is ok, That gives you plenty of time to go thru the material more than once, which I think is very important. Just consider that you are studying around the holiday season ;).
Hoping that I pass FAR, I will start studying for BEC at the beginning of December, and will take off the last week of the year………..Lets see how it goes.
