Megan…If I may, since you're that close, now does not appear to be the ideal time to completely overhaul your study plan. If you feel as though you're regurgitating memorized answers, mix up the order of topics (Start with F5 for example or SIMS instead of MC) to which you've become accustomed. Throw your brain for a loop and commit yourself to knowing the ins and outs of why a particular answer is right or wrong. Compile your own notes and go over them with a fine comb. Organize the information in your mind so that when you approach a question, you can mentally pinpoint the section in your notes to which the question relates.

unDer – I can't redo Becker because my materials expired. I can't do anything in the software. I have the book, but not many MCQ in there. I would probably just redo Becker if I still had a valid license.

@Megan – with so much on the line now (eg losing credit for 2 sections), I would study from scratch….study as if the passing score was a 99….good luck 🙂

@Megan. Would you like my Becker software/flashcards? I have the 2011 version. I'd hate to throw it away. But I cant stand the clutter.

@Orleans_Candidate I'm from New Orleans too. That prometric is constantly adding new slots. In fact I just checked and there's a spot now for Oct 10.

Did anyone here take exams in NC? I took FAR on July 7 and the wait is killing me. I was ready to do a victory dance after the multiple choice questions and then the SIMs sucked away my confidence. I had no time to do the last really big SIM which I hope was a not graded SIM. I would have thought I had passed for sure if they had kept the old weighting system but 40% for SIMS may have cost me the exam.

How did you feel after your exams. That is tough to come so close. Although I think, but I don't know, that I know what to do next time to pass if I find out I failed this time. I think it will be close for me too.

I am at a close to 3 month wait!!

Momof4, I am in the same boat as you as far as waiting for scores. I live in NC and passed BEC (80) and Audit (97), then took REG and FAR in the most recent testing window.

My feeling on FAR was that the sims were almost nonsense to be honest (one of them on a topic only found in BEC. I can only assume that is a sample question). Contrast that to friends who had sims which were simple and straight from the material. I don't know what to make of it…

Compare that to my feeling when taking REG. My sims were EMBARASSINGLY EASY. I mean I am talking SIMPLE. Talking to the same friends who took REG afterwards….their sims were BRUTAL. I spent about an hour afterwards researching on of their topics just to see if I could come up with any sort of an answer using the entire Internal Revenue Code (paper copy) in addition to a full CCH tax database. And…nope. Wasn't really able to come up with much of anything. Again, I received very straightforward and EASY EASY EASY sims.

I studied full 2011 Becker, Gleim, Wiley, and CPA Excel and know my stuff. I really feel for those of us who receive the tough/lame sims. Especially when they are now worth so much of our grade!!!!!!!!

Based on my REG experience, I am fairly certain there are set sim difficulties but I have no idea what triggers them. I wish I could share my experience of my REG sims, but it really wouldn't matter. If you saw these on your test and had put in even a halfway decent effort studying you would ace them… What is going on?

Looking for some advice from those who passed FAR. I just found out I passed REG (yay!) but failed BEC with a 72 (boo!). I am facing the clock of losing Audit on 11/30. I have FAR scheduled for 11/28 which i scheduled under the assumption I was going to pass , sillly me. I guess what I am trying to decide is do I start studying for FAR and just face it that I am going to lose audit or do I try to squeeze them both in? I just don't think trying to pass both in the window is possible with FAR being one of them.

@NolaCPA2Be Thanks for looking out. I am still waiting on my NTS though hopefully it will still be there by the time they decide to send me my darn NTS. It is a wonder I still have my sanity after I spent two days begging NASBA to let me re-register after my failing score. Now waiting 3 to 5 business days for them to patiently send my NTS. I hope that by the time I get it a day will still be available there. Then I get to wait months for my score! This is the most awsome experience I have ever been through!!
