I did self study with Wiley so I didn't have any lectures. I did the following when preparing for all the exams:
1. Read the text and took notes for the module.
2. Did the problems in the text in homework mode i.e. I tried to answer them on my own but referred to the book when I needed to. I didn't just read the answer if I had to use the text; I wrote it out and made sure I understood each step.
3. Read thru the answers (both right and wrong) of the questions I missed and the ones that I'd been unsure about.
4. Made brief notes of my weak areas and stupid mistakes that I made on a regular basis.
5. Moved on to the next module. I tried to grasp all the topics in a module but didn't worry if there were some more areas that I didn't grasp that well. It was amazing how much more sense some of the topics made during my final review.
6. During my final review I read my notes for each module, did the test bank problems for that module, and did additional work on my weak areas if necessary. After I'd finished going thru the modules I did as many sample tests as I had time for before the exam.
I was doing this on a pretty compressed schedule so I didn't have a problem remembering the stuff I'd studied earlier. However, there's so much material in FAR that I think it would be useful for most people to do some problems or read notes from sections previously covered – maybe spend 2-3 hours per week doing this. That way you don't have to relearn the earlier material when doing your review.
Good luck.
