Thanks for the insight I really appreciate it but everyone keeps saying do the journal entries do the journal entries and I have to wonder what does that really mean. Like I do the journal entries for most topics (interest, acquisition, purchase of stock etc) but I don't know if that is enough. The journal entries in Becker seem straightforward but is there some sort of out of the field type question that you get regarding JE? I know for sure I will spend the last few days preparing the Journal entries for NFP and GOVT items

WhyMe23ParticipantAny advice for time management on the exam? I was thinking about budgeting 40 minutes average per MC testlet and leaving 2 hours for SIMs. Does that sound like too much time for the SIMs?
For all past exams I've had a plan and stuck too it for better or worse.

I've got FAR coming up on 8/29 and I have a similar plan…I've been using Wiley test bank (thanx for the discount Jeff!!) and I've been averaging a little over a minute each on the MCQs. I think the 40 minutes per testlet is doable, that's what I'm shooting for. From what I've heard and seen on the forums the sims on the exam are more difficult than any practice sims that are out there, so I'm thinking the more time for the sims the better…
Also @ whyme…love your signature! B-A-R-F…really clever! LOL 🙂

kb24Participant@whyme and jomarie and duke
You will probably be able to finish the first testlet in less than 40 minutes easily. The other two will probably take longer because the questions are likely to be wordier or have more complex calculations. If you are able to leave at least 1 1/2 hours for the SIMS you should be OK.
Good luck to all of you.

jomarieParticipantWith Reg I told myself to leave 1 1/2 hours for sims and that was doable. So I was thinking for FAR 1 1/2 to 2 hours for sims would be a good goal. The way I was thinking is about 1/2 of the total time allotted for the entire exam should be for sims.

LAGOS975ParticipantI completed my REG retake on 08/13/2011. I am preparing for FAR for the first time. Any suggestions on how to prepare for this exam. I have the 2011 Becker final review complete course materials. I also have the text book PDF version. Should I read the entire book or focus on the lectures and take notes.

WhyMe23ParticipantThanks for the time management advice all. @Kb you are probably right about the first testlet taking the least time, let's just hope I can average close to 40-45 minutes to leave 1.5-2 hours for SIMs.
@duker glad you like the signature…it pretty much sums up my feelings about studying at this point. BARF!

ScruffMcGruffMember@Achiever – I don't know if this is your first exam or not, but if you read the comments on here about the simulations, pretty much everyone agrees that just pounding away at MCQs is the best way to prepare for the sims. The only thing(s) I would suggest are:
A) Just run through 4-5 of them to get the general understanding of how the sims work (i.e. the different types of sims you might have). You really just want to be comfortable with how the sims might appear when you get there on exam day.
B) Also, if this is your first exam, you will probably want to do quite a few ‘research sims'. Some people are great at them, and others really struggle with them. You're pretty much guaranteed to see one (if not two) research sims on your test which could mean as much as ~13% (2/6 x .40) of your total grade if both sims are counted.
